Pakhuis Leiden — Restaurant in Leiden

Went to this restaurant with my mates for occasional dinner and had no expectations. The location is charming in a peaceful neighbourhood of the city center. Pakhuis Leiden is inviting from the entrance, quite spacious on the inside and has an informal and pleasant vibe. The staff instantly helped with appointing the table. The menu was quite plain and standard. Also not versatile but diverse enough to satisfy the pickiest among diners with generally tasty dishes. Turnover of the dishes was high with minimal waiting time between courses. I went for a complete 3-course dinner consisting of: Carpaccio (no remarks, its simple, impossible to mess up) Half farm chicken served with rather small portion of fries: Smooth, and tender meat with neutral tasting buttery glacing, meat fell right of the bone and was rather tasty. It wasnt more than that though,. Dame blanche: Fine balance in vanilla ice, chocolate sauce and fresh stiff home made whipped cream. It was simple yet tasty.

Overall i was pleased but in all, the food lacked depth A fine place to eat once or twice but i can imagine quickly becomes boring if the menu isnt...

The little walk/pathway to the location is actually very pretty. Flowers, plants,concrete stones are found along the pathway. Great location ✅ unfortunately for me it was not the most welcoming. Plumbing was being done, couldn't use the ladies room. Took a little longer than usual for me to get attended too but I'd like to add that might have to do with the fact that there was a sort group Sunday brunch going on but then I'd suggest more waitresses. The staff was polite and well mannered😇 ✅ when they did Interact with me. However 🙈on the first go they got my drink wrong (forgot one ingredient) which would have made all the difference as far as taste but thankfully they then easily corrected it for me when I brought it to their attention. Hmm🤔 Maybe a different day or time might have been a different/better experience 🤷🏾‍♀️ I'd hope because I actually do think under different circumstances it could have...

I went for dinner with friends, the food was good but the service was horrible. At the end of a dinner we bought a small bottle of water (33 cl) and we were taking it away after paying for it. The waiter stopped me and said to not do it. In the end, after I said to him that we paid for it and wanted to take it away, he started to push me physically shouting to go away. I've worked for 20 years in a restaurant and never seen such aggressive behaviour from a waiter...and just for a small...
