Ristorante Il Mulino — Restaurant in Lisse

When my Dutch side of the family invited me to have dinner at Il Mulino, I was skeptical as I always am of Italian restaurants abroad. Most of the time, they are not the real thing.

I was pleasantly surprised to find out that this is not the case for il Mulino. The food choice and quality were outstanding. The waitress who served us was easy going and very attentive to our needs. She also helped everyone decide what to order, which is definitely a plus. The atmosphere was just right.

We had antipasti to share - a selection of delicious warm and cold dishes which included some of the best shrimps 'al sugo' I have ever eaten - then I ordered a steak with gorgonzola sauce and finally tiramisù. The steak was to die for, and they served it with potatos and some tagliatelle as a side dish, which is not what pasta is for in Italy but I did not mind as it tasted amazing.

They also offer a great wine selection.

If I really had to find something that I did not like, that would be the dessert. My tiramisù seemed to be missing mascarpone and any liquer, and the savoiardi did not have enough time to soak in the sauce so they were neither firm nor soft. I like my tiramisù slightly different but I totally understand that it could be my own personal taste.

Either way I would 100% recommend this restaurant, you will...

This place is a health risk and the owner is a stingy man, who is trying to rip off his clients.

First, the cheaper dishes, which appear on the menu outside, do not appear in the menus we were handed. These showed only a limited selection of the more expensive options. Second, a simple Margarita Pizza was of bad quality, especially for an Italian restaurant. The tomatoes sauce tasted like a cheap, out-of-the-can sauce. Furthermore, a simple, plain past, only with butter costs 9.90€!.

Lastly, and most importantly, a clam and tomatoes pasta I ordered for myself, came back up and out of my system a few hours later, which perfectly summarized my feeling about this place.

Will never visit this place again, and would recommend everybody...

I am really sorry to give only one star but for this price I expect: hot meals, not barely warm, something special in taste, not dull below average dish, much more positive service, not telling me that if I want child seat for my 1.5 yrs old son I can take it myself form patio while we were sitting inside, and at least try to smile. For over 60 euros 2 adults were still hungry, didn't eat anything special or even good and even juice for my son was strait in glass and tasted super artificial so most probably some cheap one from...
