Eetcafé My Way — Restaurant in Nijmegen

Last week my friend and I were looking for a place to eat after a long journey. Near the station we found a café combined with a Turkish restaurant, so we didn’t hesitate and decided to give it a try.

First impressions – the restaurant was empty and disorganized, no guests at all, dirty tables and a general mess. The atmosphere was unpleasant – very loud Arabic music was playing, which made it impossible to enjoy the meal in peace, and the overall untidiness only added to the discomfort. It seemed to be more of a local spot since mainly locals were coming in. The waiter, however, was very kind and helpful, especially since I’m not familiar with Turkish cuisine – he really helped us choose.

That being said, the restaurant advertises its meals as fresh, which was not the case. I asked for an extra piece of Turkish bread and had to wait 15 minutes while the waiter defrosted and baked it. The dishes didn’t look anything like the pictures, and the taste was more like pre-made or frozen food. We also ordered an extra Coca-Cola that never arrived – and I’d like to emphasize again, we were the only two guests in the entire restaurant.

Another unpleasant surprise came when it was time to pay – they didn’t accept cards, only cash. Luckily, we happened to have some with us, but I usually rely on paying by card. On the positive side, the prices were fairly reasonable.

Overall, it wasn’t the worst experience, but I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant, and if I had known in advance what it would be like, I definitely wouldn’t...

Hele mooie zaak! Zeer comfortabele stoelen en banken, leuke sfeer en bovenal heerlijk eten én geweldige service. Bij binnenkomst direct onthaald alsof we al jaren vaste klanten zijn (was onze eerste keer). We hadden wat moeite met het maken van een keuze en de eigenaar hielp ons bij het maken van een keus die perfect bij ons past. De prijzen zijn erg laag en de kwaliteit van het eten is superieur! Zeker een aanrader en erg familievriendelijk ook. Broodje hete kip is zeker een aanrader, werd ons aangeraden door de eigenaar en ik rijd tegenwoordig ruim een half uur speciaal voor dat broodje. De eigenaar kwam meteen ontzettend vriendelijk naar me toe en vroeg meteen of die me kon helpen. Na mijn wens voor een broodje uitgesproken te hebben kreeg ik meteen een aanrader van de eigenaar: broodje: hete kip.
