There used to be another restaurant here - the interior hasn't changed but the name and the staff have. The waiting staff is friendly but the kitchen is quite slow. The food is okay but not a wow-ing experience - about what you would expect from a Dutch restaurant. But they server you free water as a default which is very nice! The bread we ordered as a starter took 15 minutes to make its way to the table. Once there, the focaccia was oily, cold and chewy. The 2 toppings that came with it weren't special. Waitress was a little annoyed when we asked where the starter was because we assumed a little bread and toppings would be readily available. The main dishes again took very long to come out. It looks like the kitchen staff is not very experienced. The main dishes we had was fish and the tenderloin steak which I ordered medium rare as usual. The fish was okay - not excellent and not bad. The steak was somehow warm in the middle but still very very rare. The steak was also very very tough so I told the waitress this wasn't a tenderloin steak. She was a little hesitant but offered to replace it. A few minutes later, she came to confirm that it was tenderloin but indeed very tough. It's my feeling she got scammed by her butcher who sold her regular steak as tenderloin ... The next attempt was much better - more medium well than medium rare but at least it tasted and felt like tenderloin. The potato dish served with the steak was dry and lacking some flavour. The mushroom sauce was surprisingly tasty and although I'm not a big fan of mushrooms in general, this paired very well with the steak. This used to be the place where we would come every time we had a dance event in Nijmegen but this experience will have us looking elsewhere.

He is a true genius culinarian and Madelon’s enthusiasm makes everything tastes even better! Without batting an eyelash about my special requests to order outside the card, Madelon retreated to the kitchen to soon reappear with the most beautiful and deliciously smelling salad. The taste was a true revelation: crispy fresh, sweet and appetisingly acidy. Meanwhile, my vegan main course consisted of delicately prepared vegetables on a cream of kohlrabi - which in its mildness offered a perfectly round dining experience. My much more reasonable boyfriend ordered from the card: the caramelised figs with goat cheese (to start) - which were served with crispy kale, pistachios and balsamic vinegar - and presented an absolute symphony. Then the sea ​​bream fillet (as a main) - which was served with spinach, tomato stew, Dutch shrimps, capers and decorated with a tapioca prawn cracker - it looked like art and tasted likewise. Madelon recommended the perfect wine for each course and couldn’t wait to share beautiful details about them. We also got to try the super cool and unique corn ribs in between the courses.

De dames (we waren met 2 heren en 2 dames) namen telkens 2 voorgerechten (ipv één hoofdschotel), en de heren namen elk een hoofdschotel. Alles werd perfect getimed en samen opgediend, en van de nodige uitleg toegelicht. Alles, maar dan ook alles, was perfect van textuur, temperatuur, afwerking en smaak. Het was zo lekker, dat wij daarna ons lieten verleiden tot de dessertkaart (wat we eigenlijk niet van plan waren). Ook hier weer: het kaasassortiment, de cheescake (in een zeer originele samenstelling!), de chocolade , alles was op bijzonder hoog niveau. Als kers op de taart komt dan nog dat de prijzen heel erg redelijk zijn. Hier eet je op topniveau in een aangenaam kader en aan betaalbare prijzen. Alles klopt: de vriendelijkheid, het interieur, de passie voor het topgerecht, de eerlijke prijs. Dit is een verborgen parel van een hoogst uitzonderlijk niveau. Enig minpuntje: wij zijn van België, en Nijmegen ligt iets te ver om elke week terug te komen.

The bread we ordered as a starter took 15 minutes to make its way to the table. Once there, the focaccia was oily, cold and chewy. The 2 toppings that came with it weren't special.
