De Kluizenaar🍺 — Restaurant in Nijmegen

For my birthday, I went to the kluizenaar to have some dinner. Appetizers where nice, but the rest was definitely not up to standard;

The wait was long, orders had to be taken twice or three times (granted, they had errors with their computer system) and after over an hour and a half we informed how much longer as people had trains to catch. They indicated it would be 6 more minutes untill food was served, but it was still over 20.

Worse than the wait was that one person in the party ordered a beer. Halfway into the beer a very large glass shard was found into the glass. Even though they did bring a replacement beer right away, I am unsure how they could miss a shard this size, someone could have hurt themselves on this.

Last but not least a burger was ordered and there was very specifically asked for an ingredient to be left out multiple times. The waiter said this was fine, and repeated the order back correctly without the ingredient. Once the food came, the ingredient was included: it was part of the burger and could in no way have been left out. After quite some insisting (only two bites where taken and this was NOT what was ordered) they agreed to take back the order free of charge. I cannot understand why they did not tell the ingredient could not have been left out before bringing the food, and why they decided to serve it without asking if this was what we want.

Overall, a very bad experience and I would not recommend this...

We went in for a quick meal around 17:30. The bar wasn't too busy yet and there was a nice spot for us at the back of the restaurant.

We ordered the so called sour meat dish and it was delicious 😋! The portion could have been a little bit bigger as I was pretty hungry but the apple pie dessert made up for it.

In the bar they have a very large selection of different beers 🍻 All in all I would recommend this place and will come...

I believe the truest and noblest purpose of going here is to have SPARERIBS!! Please ...if you have not tried the spareribs...I highly recommend it. They're amazing!! They also serve great beer, the ambience is beautiful inside and the service is great always! But seriously... try the spareribs.
