Restaurant Savoré — Restaurant in Roermond

We went with the family, 2 adults and 2 young kids, for dinner. When we arrived we could choose a table ourselves in the garden. After we took a seat we had to wait a while before anyone came to us with a menu. This was a bit weird as the staff were passing multiple times without asking anything. After a while we got the menu and made a choice. They didn't had any kids dishes on the menu, which I actually like, but after we ordered a dish for them they immediately suggested to make a smaller portion for half of the price. Perfect! We started with some nice bread, also so that the kids could already eat something. After finishing we got our first dishes and we shared them with our kids. We had an orange salad and the bavette. Both were very nice and also our kids like them. As a main dish the kids got their smaller portion, which still was more than enough for them. As my wife is Italian our standards for Italian food are quite high. The spaghetti (with salmon)my son took, was unfortunately overcooked. My daughter took the ratatouille, which was nice. My wife took the Ossenhaas, which was okay. Unfortunately they didn't asked upfront how she would like to have it cooked. It was cooked a bit more than medium. She would have preferred to have it cooked medium-rare. I took the Tajine, which was in general very nice, although the two pieces of lamb(with bone) were not as tender as I hoped for. But again the dish was fine. We also took 3 deserts. We mentioned that would like to have one for the kids so that they could share. Unfortunately, they didn't gave an extra plate, which would have made our life a bit easier. Of course we could also have asked for it, but we didn't. We had the tiramisu, the strawberry-desert and the lemon sorbet. All were nice, although the tiramisu doesn't need the chocolate sauce. In our opinion it would have been better without. The same holds for the cookie crumble which they added on all deserts.

Another positive thing was the fact that we ordered a big bottle of water and we received a karaf with tap water including even some lemon and mint at no cost. Great! In many restaurants they bring you a bottle of Spa blauw a 8 euro's a bottle.

Just a bit more regarding the atmosphere. Here it deserves 5 stars without a doubt. We were sitting outside, It was a very nice garden, with a small pond and waterfall. It was a lovely place to have dinner.

The service can be improved. In general we had to wait quite long in between the different courses, but it also took very long before someone came to pickup our dirty dishes after we finished the main course. What I personally don't like is if the waiters/waitresses are bringing the drinks without using a serving tray. Many times they just were bringing it by having a bottle and a glas in their hands. This is not in line with the presentation of the food.

As a summary we had a nice experience, but due to the long waiting times it can be a challenge if you bring your kids. Without kids this is of course less of an issue. So, if you are planning to go with friends or with your partner I still think it is worth the visit and you will have a lovely time for sure. The staff also was...

Al met al een matige ervaring gehad. Sfeer binnen is gezellig. Dame in de bediening was te veel bezig met serveren volgens het boekje, waardoor een echte persoonlijke touch ontschoot. Af en toe zelfs op het ongemakkelijke af. Prijs/kwaliteit verhouding niet echt in balans. Als hoofdgerecht lamsrack & lamsfilet gegeten (op de kaart één van de duurdere gerechten). Eén lullig koteletje (dit is geen lamsrack uiteraard) en een door midden gesneden (??) filet. Deze waren allebei van vrij klein formaat; zonder enig bijgerecht is dit dan ook aan de prijzige kant. Er zaten zogenaamde pommes fondant bij; deze waren alles behalve krokant, het waren eerder een soort in bouillon en boter gekookte aardappels, zo zacht als maar kon. Het lam had ik medium besteld; deze werd doorbakken op tafel gezet, jammer. Bij de bediening aangegeven en vervolgens een nieuwe portie gekregen, waarbij uiteindelijk bij het serveren van de tweede ronde werd mede gedeeld dat de vorige filet in ieder geval wél medium was. Apart om hierover in discussie te gaan. Mijn tafelgenote had uiteraard haar gerecht (dat al vrij lauw geserveerd werd) tegen die tijd op. Jammer dat de bediening niet meer terug is gekomen op de eerste ronde in de richting van een excuses. Hierdoor - naast het feit dat we überhaupt niet heel erg te spreken waren over het eten en de kwaliteit daarvan - helaas niet...

Vanmiddag gegeten bij Savoré, op loopafstand. We passeerden de locatie geregeld bij ons bezoek aan het centrum van Roermond. Steeds werd mijn aandacht getrokken door de locatie waar we vanmiddag eindelijk hadden gereserveerd. Onze keuze viel op het verrassingsmenu van de kok. En verrast werden we: wat een schilderijtjes werden er uitgeserveerd. M.u.v . het eerste gerecht (waar een heerlijke variatie van lekkere smaakverwenners waren gedrapeerd op stukjes rauwe zalm. We houden helaas niet van rauwe zalm maar het kon de verrassing niet bederven. Het werd volledig goedgemaakt door het tweede gerecht van ribeye en biefstuk met variatie van groenten. Om van te smullen. Het klapstuk daarna was het nagerecht. Onbeschrijflijk lekker waarbij een stuk “ingelegde” peer vergezeld werd van een super op smaak gebrachte soort bavarois. Alles om de smaakpapillen dusdanig te verwennen en uit te kijken naar een vervolg bezoek dat er zeker eens van zal komen. De lokatie was ook heel gezellig ingericht en we hadden uitzicht op een prachtig “buiten” waar we na de winter zeker een keer zullen gaan genieten van een lekkere lunch.
