This bistro has been on my radar for a while, as it was always pretty packed and hard to grab a spot via the reservation system. We finally made it here, but unfortunately, our expectations were too high and weren’t met here. They’ve got the petite faim and grande faim concept here, but each menu option can also be turned into grande and petite. We went for the oysters and tartare as a starter (petite) and homemade sausage and poussin as a main course (grande). The tartare was a complete disaster - the taste just wasn't right, and those potato chips didn’t belong there at all! I understand it’s supposed to be presented as a nest, but all the ingredients don’t go well with one another. The small chicken (poussin) is a whole chicken, which is extremely hard to eat, as you end up all messy because of the sauce while trying to carve it into pieces. The sausage and the potato are good enough, but they taste like something you can cook on your own. I can only recommend a cocktail I tried (sadly, I don’t remember its name - it’s on the photo though) and the oysters - they...
Read moreMy husband and I enjoyed the most marvellous meal here last Sunday lunchtime, one that even now 3 days later, is making me smile widely with joy on remember the taste packed amazingly well prepared delights a very helpful and informative front of staff served us. The garlic soup is something I´d love to eat with every meal, the cuttlefish dish being the best based on this ingredient I´ve ever had the joy to experience, and even the zingy green salad sang load it´s quality and freshness. The bread is brilliant, the butter even better, the wonderful things the kitchen can do with a cabbage with make you see this humble vegetable in a completely different way, and try to recreate it at home, and the ambiance is warm, informal and imbued with happy content. If I didn´t live in London, UK, I´d have a weekly repeat reservation! As it is I´ll be sure to make one the next time we visit Rotterdam. Thank you from the bottom of my heart to all involved in making our stay in Rotterdam even better than we could dreamed. many best...
Read moreA HIDDEN GEM! This has been one of the best dinners I've had in Rotterdam. The quality of the food is fantastic, every dish is a bomb of flavors (which is rare for the typical Dutch palate), the service is impecable, and the prices are more than fair.
The place is small, yet cozy, fantastic to meet up with friends for dinner or even a date.
I love that you can choose small/big portions of every dish, so you can opt for different options and try a bit of everything. Perfect for a shared dining experience.
The menu changes by the season, so it stays fresh, although they have also have some staples year round like their potatoes, which are AMAZING. And desserts? You can't leave without trying them!
The servers are very knowledgeable about the dishes and gave us great recommendations based on our taste profile and preferred proteins. Highly...
