Brunch Bar Rotterdam — Restaurant in Rotterdam

We ordered Crispy Chicken Burger and Egg Benedict with Ham & Cheese, alongside with a matcha latte & crème brûlée cappuccino.

In general we would say it was not a good experience. It was 2 pm and not busy at all, only 3-4 tables outside including us and 1 table inside and we saw 3 workers. However, we had to wait 30-40 minutes for the food.

For the Egg Benedict with ham and cheese, everything on the plate was cold. We told the waitress that the food was cold, and she just took the dish away without saying anything. Another waitress came back with another plate, the food was still cold but we just ate it anyways because we didn't want to cause any more troubles. The poached egg was overcooked, the bacon was soft and not crispy at all like the waitress told us, cheese was hard. Maybe it was just our preference but we expected the cheese should have been at least melted a bit, not cold and hard like that.

For the Crispy Chicken Burger, you could tell everything was store-bought stuff just by the look and it also tasted so but it was not that bad except for the cheese.

Overall we think it was a bad experience because the service was pretty rude when we told them about the food which was cold. We even tried to reach out to another waitress that was walking by, that we didn't want the Egg Benedict anymore, but she showed such a rude attitude and in the end the Egg Benedict was brought to us, so we just ate it and didn't want to cause any more discomfort for them.

We wouldn't say we wouldn't recommend this place, but we expected our experience should not have been that bad and we hope the restaurant should take our feedbacks into account, especially for...

The restaurant was much smaller than I thought it would be. The tables are close together, so you can easily eavesdrop on your neighbours. If you arrive during the lunch rush (from 11.30 to 13.00), I would recommend making a reservation.

I ordered the crème brûlée cappuccino. It did not look as pretty as on Instagram. It was quite sticky - like toasted marshmallows. And, I am sure a regular cappuccino would taste better.

My friend ordered the pancakes. It was supposed to be served with “lemon pastry and crumble”, instead it was served with semolina (“griesmeel”).

I ordered the crispy chicken burger with sweet potato fries. The food was freshly prepared. It arrived hot. The chicken was crispy. The sweet potato fries were a little soft. The brioche was a bit dry. Overall, the dish lacked flavour.

Wij bestelden de champagne brunch. Deze was nieuw op het menu. Kennelijk betekent dat ook dat ze niet weten hoe ze het moeten maken. Wij hebben na 1,5 uur slechts de helft van het eten ontvangen. Vervolgens heeft de eigenaresse besloten een schamele 5 euro korting te geven op een rekening van 70 euro.

Indien je aangeeft dat een persoon een glutenallergie heeft, slaan al helemaal de stoppen door en weten ze niet meer wat ze moeten doen. Voor 30 euro p.p. ontvang je in totaal een half wentelteefje, 1 klein glutenvrij broodje en een Acai bowl die we niet hadden besteld.

Na duidelijk onze onvrede te hebben geuit, werd er nog aangeboden om 1 van de 2 croissantjes mee te geven die behoorden tot de champagne brunch en waar we al een half uur op aan het wachten waren. Echter we hadden er geen vertrouwen in dat dit croissantje voor sluitingstijd zou zijn gebakken.

Bespaar je zelf een halve zaterdag en kies een andere brunch tent.

EDIT na reactie Brunch Bar Rotterdam: Vervelend om te lezen dat er ook een miscommunicatie tussen het personeel/de keuken/de manager plaatsvond. Er werd t.a.v. vervanging van de croissant inderdaad geopperd om een Acai bowl te nemen, maar wij gaven snel aan dat dit niet de voorkeur had. In het kader van een verrassing hebben we toen een glutenvrij broodje met een ei en avocado besproken. Toen er toch een Acai bowl gebracht werd, hebben wij gelijk de serveerster daarop geattendeerd.

Waar u zegt dat - behalve het croissantje - alle overige onderdelen van het champagne brunch menu zijn geleverd, slaat u de plank mis. De champagne brunch is voor 2 personen besteld waarvan 1 glutenvrij eet. Zoals u zelf aangeeft, horen daar 3 ingrediënten bij: wentelteefjes, croissantje en brioche met zalm. Wij hebben 3 bordjes ontvangen met daarop 1 wentelteefje, 1 acai bowl en 1 klein glutenvrij broodje gesplitst met één deel avocado en één deel zalm. Dus ontbrak: 1 croissantje en de brioche met zalm (niet-glutenvrij).

Zoals u aangeeft, heeft u veel glutenvrije opties. Dus het argument dat het schakelen naar glutenvrije opties tot vertraging heeft geleid, is onnavolgbaar. Tevens onnavolgbaar is de korting van slechts 5 euro (wat mede tot verbazing van de serveerster leidde) gevolgd door een ontwijkend antwoord op mijn review waarin wederom geen verantwoordelijkheid wordt genomen voor deze...
