El Cafetal 🇨🇴 — Restaurant in Rotterdam

After my holiday in Colombia, I fell in love with Colombian cuisine. Today, I felt like I was back in Colombia for a while. What a nice restaurant with an outside terrace. Salsa music, Juan Valdez coffee and of course a Colombian menu. I had chosen to order food and take it home and that was no problem, although next time I would just stay :). I ordered arepa with cheese and patacones and a colombiana to drink. I had to wait for about 30 minutes and it cost 15 euros.

Once at home, I really enjoyed the Patacones. They are so delicious! I also liked the arepas.

They also have special menus on a regular basis, such as bandeja Paisa. Coincidentally, they have it tomorrow, so who knows, I might...

Let's start with the service, was slow and not very costumer friendly. Getting up to order at the bar while one of the waiter is drinking beer at the bar wasn't on my list. Things like straws, cuttleries etc were forgotten. The food: the empanada i liked it. The arepa con queso? Nah stay away!!! The picada is enough food for 2 people but i was missing the flavor in the arepas. Could be that they choose not to use spices in their arepa so arepa doesn't overpower the meat but still. Would i do it again? A lot can be forgiven if the arepa was good and it wasn't. The service can use an upgrade. 2.5...

We were there today and the service was really bad. I was looking forward to have Colombian food and it was an awful experience.
