We went on the Pancake Cruise as a group of four adults, and while the pancakes themselves were tasty, the overall experience was badly let down by the atmosphere and lack of basic organisation on board.
There’s a ball pit play area in the centre of the boat, under the deck — and while we understand it’s a family-friendly cruise, being sat directly next to it with no option to move was a nightmare. The kids were running around, screaming non-stop, and jumping into the pit the entire time. It was honestly like being in the middle of a soft play centre. We were assigned seats and couldn’t change them, which made it impossible to enjoy the cruise or even have a conversation. It really wouldn’t take much for the team to seat families near the ball pit and place adult-only groups further away — basic consideration that would make a huge difference.
On top of that, the hygiene around the buffet wasn’t great either — there were flies all over the toppings. It was off-putting and just made the whole thing feel a bit sloppy, especially when you’re paying for a food-focused experience.
It’s a shame because the concept has potential and the pancakes themselves were good, but it’s completely let down by poor organisation and a lack of attention to detail. I wouldn’t recommend it unless you’re going with kids — and even then, I’d lower your...
Read moreOne of the best canal ideas I’ve ever seen/been on! Took a group of students on and it was the nicest 2 hour excursion for them! I don’t know who thought up the idea to have a boat going along the canal and just serving exclusively pancakes, but whoever it was is genius! This boat has 3 floors, 2 for seating and eating and watching the canal. And then an entire floor as a ball pit for kids to be entertained (that has a slide that goes into it!) spectacular. Pancakes are genuinely all you can eat and are being cooked and placed on a shelf for guests to collect. Either bacon, apple or plain. This shelf idea means it’s so speedy to queue and get them. Then there’s an array of toppings. The only rule is if you don’t finish your plate you can’t go up for more (unless there’s something you don’t like) to reduce buffet waste. Drinks are not included which is totally fair, they are really reasonably priced.
We took a group of school kids and they were so happy, staff were happy too. All the kids loved the pancakes and the views. Staff were amazingly friendly and accommodating ensuring we were all sat together. Toppings were regularly topped up so nothing ran out .
Would highly recommend!! Thank you to all the staff who made it such a...
Read moreBasic Pancakes, sadly very poor and sugary toppings. I missed fresh options. Overall it's super sweet or salty to make you thirsty. Also, waiting for the pancakes to get ready takes a while.
Overall it was super loud, you cannot pick your seat and imagine a boat full of kids that had several sugary pancake topping options. You end up screaming at your table partners in order to have a conversation. You cannot go upstairs or in the fresh air.
Yes, it's not 75 minutes, it was in total only 45 from boarding to exit. But I was glad to escape the screaming.
The tour was a little random, I was hoping to see more of the harbor up toward Schiedam, instead of a 25-minute tour of Maashaven. And parking took another 15 minutes. I guess no one minds since most of the adults were looking at their phones, not the view.
The tables were dirty and sticky, and since it's a buffet with no hand washing possibility, you can imagine the hygiene standard.
You do this once, not twice I would say. I'm, sure there are better options. BTW, they Spam your Email, several times daily.
Clearly, the straightforward unprofessional response to constructive criticism only illustrates the lack of care for details and...
