On my visit in the park, I din not discover any maintace issuess, hence the overall experience was positive and enjoyable. Het Park in Rotterdam, designed in the English landscape style, takes visitors on a splendid escape into nature. This style is characterized by its sweeping grassy expanses, serpentine paths, and clusters of woodland, creating a picturesque and inviting atmosphere. Het Park ( Euromast, Rotterdam)

Het park ligt aan de rand van het centrum in de schaduw van de Euromast. Het park is ontstaan door het samenvoegen van twee oude buitenplaatsen.

De bekende tuinarchitect Zocher, die tevens het Amsterdamse Vondelpark heeft ontworpen, ontwierp in 1852 de buitenplaats in landschapsstijl. De heer Valckenier, waarvan het eerste terrein gekocht werd, gaf de natuur op zijn terrein geheel vrij spel. “Hij zei o.a.: " het is hoogst aanmatigend, wanneer wij ’t recht menen te hebben de natuur de wet voor te moeten schrijven“. Op de scheiding van de twee parken ligt de in 1960 voor de Floriade aangelegde Rhododendron-allee. Een ander overblijfsel van deze tuinbouwtentoonstelling is de oudhollandse tuin bij het Heerenhuys die al uit 1800 stamt.

Het is dan ook heerlijk om te wandelen in de schaduw van de schitterende bomen langs de uitgestrekte gazons. Aan de noordrand van het park staat het prachtige in 1912 door Noorwegen geschonken Zeemanskerkje. Een aanrader is om hier een kijkje te gaan nemen, want het is vrij te bezichtigen. Aan de zuidkant van het park is een uitkijkheuvel, waar u een een prachtig uitzicht heeft op de Nieuwe Maas.

Sinds april 2018 heeft eigenaar Dudok van het Heerenhuys opnieuw een chique horecagelegenheid gemaakt en is het hier goed vertoeven na een verfrissende wandeling door het park.

Tot slot: De 32ste editie van " de dag van de Romantische muziek" vond d plaats op zondag 19 augustus 2018. Op drie podia verspreid door het park worden vervolgens klassieke - en romantische muziek concerten gegeven. De musici zijn van topniveau - met bekende namen en veel aandacht voor opkomend talent.
