Texican — Restaurant in Rotterdam

Public Enemy. once sang the song: "DON'T BELIEVE THE HYPE" Well in this case it applies. Dont get the publicity for this place. Came with family with high hopes. Left with a regret and disappointment.

The place has a great decor, and promotes itself as a typical American burger joint. Items on menu dictate that is the case. But the taste doest even reach anywhere that. Big fan of burgers, and have tried a few joints in and around NL. This place wouldnt even touch my top 10 list.

The meat burger patties are tough. Did not have that texture, and the taste told me it was noway freshly made. That first bite told me it was a frozen patty processed burger. The texture told me the same. A freshly made burger tends to have that flavour and meat quality. This didnt tick any of the boxes. A major disappintment. 0/5

Ordered the hot dog also, it was meh! Tried better and worse. This was OK. 2/5

The menu came with fries, like it should. It was a small portion but was good. 3/5

Mocktail ordered, strawberry. Overrated - i mean the glass was 98% ice and syrup and water tailed at the bottom of my glass. Very hard to stir, due to ice content. Took the ice out the the syrup itself, ufff! Awful. Almost spat it out. And 5 euros for that drink? .... not value for money. 0/5

Overall from observation, i do see that this place tends to be busy with the young crowd, and i get why it is. Because u can take pictures/selfies and once u tag yourself with the hashtag. It then shows up on the TV screens in the restaurant. And that my friends is the only reason I can explain as to why this place is busy. Its for the young kids, the self-obsessed, vain girls/boys who wanna see their face on TV Monitors, pouting away. Jeez very much cringeworthy.

Nice and clean restaurant in the hart of Rotterdam, kruiskade. Even it is Mexican food, everything was halal. And that is very sharp thinking of the owner of this restaurant. Because also people who only eat halal, would like to enjoy the taste of other cuisines which normally do not serve halal good. When entering you immediately see the counter where you can ask for a space available. I have to say that the staff is very friendly and made us feel comfortable. We had made reservations as this restaurant has a high visit in customers. That felt good to hear. I went with my wife and 3 kids. Oldest son ordered a classic hotdog. Be did not like, not because it was no other prepared well, but because he did not like the pickles on the hotdog. I told him. Good that you try something else for a change, but perhaps it would he better if you had chosen something like I did, which was a beef burger which tasted excellent. It was grilled and you know when a burger is good. You smell it and taste it. My wife ordered a pot with veggies and meat in it. Good as well. Youngest son and daughter ordered tacos. We all had some difficulties in appreciating some of the sauce used, but it is typically Mexican. Which you have to learn to appreciate. They also sold Jarrito. It a drink which is excellent.
