It is far from Japan's quality. The famous "Takumi" for Japanese living in Europe, the franchise of the same store which is well known as Japanese style ramen can be eaten appeared in Rotterdam. Finally in the Netherlands you may be able to eat authentic ramen. Expectation increases. Ramen was quite ordinary, as opposed to expectation. The base of the soup is said to be "Tonkotsu", but without richness, it is a cheap taste. I feel more chicken stock than Tonkotsu. Noodles are using Nishiyama noodle things. Boiling was good, but compatibility with soup is not good. You can choose soy sauce, salt, miso for the taste of soup, but you can say Miso is a safe choice. Tsuka-dare of Tsukemen is a soup stock of bonito base soup stock and Tonkotsu. (The soup which was served was Tonkotsu soup which makes you feel the chicken breast strongly.) Hospitality. The staff was in a state of confusion because it was only a few days after opening. More service training is necessary before opening. Despite having been waiting after entering the store in the first place, a small number of people were seated first. After all, our meal was served for more than an hour and a half. This is quite annoying. As a comprehensive evaluation, Essentially one star. But expect to improve taste and customer service, and make it two stars.
I tried again here after 7months from opening. The taste is not improve. I'm so disappointed...
Read moreI was really excited to eat here after hearing good stuff about Takumi from some of my friends. I really enjoyed the veggie gyoza's; I was going to order a spicy veggie ramen but decided to go with a seafood bowl for some extra proteins because I had worked the entire day. The menu clearly stated that the dish contained three shrimps on a stick & fried shrimp. The picture was kind of small so you couldn't really tell that -as I was to find out too late- that the "fried shrimp" was actually fried chicken!!!
When I asked the staff about their mistake their response was definitely not respectable nor empathic. They literally said "yes more people make that mistake" I said that it is clearly their mistake to list something as "shrimp" when really you're serving chicken but he did not agree & didn't even apologise. I don't like to get angry or confront people so I kind of left it at that. Later when I went inside to buy a beer someone from the staff did apologise, however, it didn't feel like a genuine apology at all. I gave him a chance to let me take the beer for free but he didn't offer. I even told him that my stomach was hurting because I'm not used to eating chicken but honestly it felt like the staff didn't care.
I was expected to pay for the full meal, which I did. (kind of stupid but at the same time I did eat most of the dish and yea whatever.)
Reading 1 star review from Martijn van Winden + my own experience made sure I will never...
Read moreWe live close by and we saw the people cue here for weeks. So you could say: the hype was on for us. So, one day, today, we walked by and there was no queue so we rushed in and ordered ramen and some rice with fried chicken. It arrived after a few moments. Girlfriend had Calpis to drink, which is some sort of a yoghurt drink (okay-ish, but different) and I had traditional Japanese soda, which was some kind of Fernandes-light.
Food came and it was okay. Not bad, not really good. Since this store is in Rotterdam China Town I would even say it's somewhat below average (too salty, no vegetables and little flavour on the few pieces of meat you get) and too expensive for the amount of food you get. We're not even such big eaters, but we thought that the amount we'd got too little. Three doors to the left you'll find Vietnamese restaurant Pho; which is about the same price point, but soooo much better if you ask us (more and better food). The restaurant is nicely decorated, but a little loud for our taste.
If you queue out in the cold for this, you have something else to worry about besides the waiting time. We're so glad we didn't have to wait, that would've been a massive disappointment. Dessert (Matcha Toast) took 25 minutes, but I would pass on that one too. Weird stuff, little taste, poorly done. Don't fall for the hype people.
(Massive respect for the marketing...
