Villa Bodelaeke — Restaurant in Steenwijkerland

We visited this restaurant while travelling from the UK and it turned out to be the highlight of our trip to the Netherlands! We came here for a family birthday celebration, and everything from the warm welcome to the very last bite was perfect.

The oysters were absolutely outstanding: fresh, briny, and beautifully presented. Every dish we ordered was prepared with care, full of flavour, and served at just the right pace. The service was truly excellent, attentive without being intrusive, and the staff made us feel so welcome and well looked after.

Beautiful atmosphere. Modern chic. View of water/boathouses. The courses were fun and well plated. Great play of texture. Their select wines were well picked, particularly their organic Sauvignon Blanc which was uniquely aromatic like fresh spring flowers. The things that fell short were the seafood bisque which was too salty and pineapple ice cream which felt closer to a slushy. Leider einen enttäuschender Abend! Wir sind Gäste in Bodelaeke Village und haben unseren Hochzeitstag gestern Abend im Restaurant verbracht. Der Service, im besonderen der weiblichen Bedienung war sehr lieblos und wenig aufmerksam. Sie machte eher einen genervten Eindruck! Das Essen entsprach, wie auf der Webseite beschrieben, unseren Erwartungen und war lecker. Das Rinderfilet war von unterschiedlichen Qualitäten und hatte verschiedene Gargrade. Des Weiteren fehlte bei diesen Gerichten der beschriebene Trüffel. Auf Nachfragen gab es nur ein Achselzucken! Die Portionen waren sehr klein. Obwohl wir Vorspeise, Zwischengang und Hauptgericht hatten, waren die männlichen Gäste nicht satt. Wir fanden auch die Wartezeiten sehr lange. Bis der Hauptgang kam, waren wir schon zwei Stunden im Restaurant! Auf das Dessert haben wir dann verzichtet, da die Stimmung leider schon etwas getrübt war.
