Jean is the coffee expert and his mom runs the kitchen, really the perfect team. They always take time (when it’s not crazy busy) to have a chat. And if you have any questions about coffee Jean is your person!

Earlier this year he took me on a coffee quest to find the coffee beans that i liked the most when i was switching to black coffee.

I tried some slow filtered coffee and some of the coffee from the machine, learning all about the different flavors and processes behind it all. Amazing!

And don’t get me started about their brownies and caramel short cake…OMG! But luckily they also serve honest and really healthy food options as well. They bake their own bread, use fresh produce and not too much add ons. The spicy chicken sandwich or salad I can recommend. Or the scrambled eggs on bread.

I was excited to try this place as I am new to the neighborhood. Typically you review a place when you receive a good or a service. In this case I am reviewing without getting anything. Reason being my family and I stood at the counter for nine minutes (I counted) while the short staff was busy with other orders. This is fine, it happens. And with an open kitchen you could see they were really struggling. But for the entire time we didn't get any eye contact, even an apology, or just to ask for a little patience. So we left. Horrible service! After waiting a short eternity, we placed our order at 13:30. I ordered the soup of the day (which the board said was beetroot soup) and a tosti. At 14:30, after checking with the waiter again, I finally received my soup, but it was erwtensoep. And they did not even start preparing my tosti (which I had to again ask the waiter about). At this point of time hunger had been gnawing my belly to the point that I was ready to self-cannibalise.
