Wine & Seafoodbar Areia by Vigo — Restaurant in The Hague

We visited this restaurant to celebrate my wife's birthday. The food was just okay, lacking a bit in distinctiveness. However, the service was excellent. During our meal, there was an unfortunate incident involving my wife speaking to her mother in her mother tongue over the phone. Two elderly women at the next table loudly complained about the volume of her conversation. The staff were quick to step in and professionally defuse the situation, showing great sensitivity and support, which allowed us to enjoy the rest of our evening. Thanks to the staff for their understanding and effective management of what could have been a more upsetting experience. However I do believe I will never go to this...

Very solid place for seafood. Dishes are well prepared and the ingredients were very fresh. Wednesdays are fun because oysters are only €1,75 each! 2 and 3 course meals are very fairly priced. Prices à la carte are a touch on the steep side. The staff is very friendly. Absolutely wouldn't mind coming back. I'd recommend lunch on weekdays if you want a relaxed experience.

Only downside is that there is some kind storage room in the toilets where staff continuously walk in and out....

Whilst the food was acceptable, the service was disappointingly slow. We had to ask several times for the English version of the menu, and then for the list of cocktails. We had to wait a long time between starters and main course. We felt abandoned and the waiters seem to be more occupied with the sister restaurant Lemongrass that was more busy. There was also a sewage smell outside on the terrasse. I do not recommend...
