Dok 28 — Restaurant in The Hague

We went for dinner on the Christmas evening. They had a special menu, and they told us the dishes could be taken separately from the 3 courses menu. Since we didn't fancy a dessert, we only took the appetizer and main dish. At the end we paid the same amount as the full menu, they charged the same price. This wasn't specified when ordered. We asked about it, and the explanation was the dishes when taken separately were pricier than in the menu. They didn't offer to bring us the dessert when mentioned. The main dish was charged as "catch of the day", and it was clear the fish was not from the day but rather catch for the freezer... 2 beers each and those 2 plates where charged 119€, excessive. Have left with the feeling it's a tourist trap......

Having a nice dinner last night, and everything is nice. The service was friendly though it seems like they have a bit of employee shortage. Atmosphere was great, plenty seatings outside and inside. Food are tasty, maybe an input on the carpaccio; it tastes a bit watery, perhaps from the rucola that just got washed? Ribs was equipped with interesting joppie paprika sauce (not sure what flavor, but nice) and the meat of the day; the b0mb! There were two of us, and we hope to see improvement on the ribs marination and...

We waren een wandelingetje aan het maken en kregen honger rond een uur of 21:45. Toen we het restaurant binnen liepen vroegen we of we nog konden eten waarop de ober heel arrogant en heel opdringerig zei dat het kon maar dat we heel snel moesten zijn want de keuken zou gaan sluiten. En dat “jullie moeten heel snel een keuze maken, jullie moeten nu een keuze maken” bleef hij herhalen waardoor wij gehaast een keuze moesten maken. Later kwam de andere ober(tevens ook de eigenaar) aan tafel mompelen dat de keuken al gesloten was, en dat het personeel al had schoongemaakt etc. Als je aangeeft dat je keuken tot 22:00 uur geopend is, dan is die ook tot 22:00 geopend toch. What is the big deal?? We hadden een ossenhaas sate en kalfssteak besteld. Bleek dat de kok er ook niet echt veel zin in had, we kregen rauwe ossenhaas en smaakloze kalfsteak. Mijn vriend en ik hebben de gerechten niet kunnen opeten want het was werkelijk niet te eten. Toen de ober naar ons toekwam om te vragen of alles naar wens was(die arrogante attitude was er de hele avond by the way) lieten we zien dat het vlees rauw was waarop hij heel zelfverzekerd zei dat het gewoon medium was. Gelukkig waren wij niet zo suf om dat te geloven en hebben we wel vaker medium gebakken vlees gegeten. We liepen uiteindelijk naar de kassa en meneer arrogant vond het voldoende om “47,50” te zeggen en ons te laten pinnen en weg te sturen. Niet eens een sorry niet eens even interesse tonen in de klant of de klant alsnog tevreden proberen weg te sturen. Deze mensen denken alleen maar aan hun portemonnee. Kortom: slecht eten en slechte...
