It was July 1st 21:40. Me and my girlfriend were getting hungry. We were looking for a place to pick up some nourishment. When our eyes stumbled upon a place called Hawaiian Poké Bowl, we did not hesitate and entered the restaurant.
The looks of the restaurant were very cosy and our first impressions were good. However, unfortunately this good feeling did not last for long. A few seconds after entering we were given a list of things that we could not order or do. We did not feel very welcome and it seemed like the employee did not like it that we came in and she wanted to go home.
We went to the ordering machine and started ordering. Our order was finished suspiciously quickly. We ordered a large Poke for almost 17 euro’s, but I am pretty sure we got the small version. After a few bites it was already finished and we were still quite hungry.
However, this was not the worst part. Our suspicions of the quick finishing time of the order turned out to be correct. When opening the poke bowl we quickly realised the employee threw in an entire half avocado without even taking the effort of cutting it! When we constrainedly cut the avocado in little pieces and started mixing the bowl, we got yet another disappointment: the ratio of the ingredients was way off. There was way to little rice and salmon and way too much of the other stuff.
You might be thinking, it cannot get much worse than this. However, we quickly realised that indeed it can get worse. After a few more bites I noticed something hard and stingy in my mouth. There was an entire fish bone in my poke bowl! It was 3/4 centimetres in length. Disgusting!
I thought one cannot really mess up a poke bowl. However, Hawaiian Poke Bowl - Tilburg proofed that indeed you can. It seemed like the employee that worked the final shift on July 1st just threw in some stuff in a bowl without any type of care. This me and my girlfriend had to eat and pay 17 euros for, unfortunately. I hope I can help others with this review such that you do not make the same mistake...
Read moreI used to be a loyal customer of the Hawaiian in the town I lived in. I just moved to Tilburg and hoped it would be the same over here.
Today, I watched how the women working there prepared food. I ordered a takeaway. It was over 30°C today, and I saw how when they were leaning forward to scoop more food, their t-shirts landed in the bowls. It's completely unhygienic, not to mention ponies instead of braids with long hair flying around, and using the phone while wearing gloves - why wear them then?
I thought I would let it go, but then I opened the bowl at home (3 minutes away from the local) and after 3 bites a small bug climbed from the beetroot to the shrimp crisp.... it looked similar to the fruit fly but didn't fly.
I'm absolutely disappointed that this happened as I hoped it would become my next...

Hi! I visited last weekend and was again served by this shining beacon of hospitality! Her and the tall guy made a fantastic team. Keep it up! I've completely altered my review after being served by Nika (I'm so sorry if I got that wrong; you had me very flustered).
She was lightning fast in that kitchen, making sure nobody had to wait beyond what is reasonable, but then... she came to check how everything was and her charm caught me off-guard.
If all 'restaurants' had staff like her the world would be a better place! There was a quiet beauty about her like flowers have; not just seen,...
