My friends and I came to De Poort directly from our goodbye to our friend who died of cancer just a few days ago.
We were looking for a place where we could sit and have a calm drink together and support each other after one od the hardest days of our lives. I left angry and upset.
There was a waiter - when one of my friends asked if there was anything on the lunch menu still being served he retorted angrily "at ten o'clock at night??" with such a mocking tone. She was just asking if there was any overlap between the day and night menus. Then later when he brought the food she decided to order instead he sarcastically remarked "I hope this is to your liking" - almost throwing the food at the table.
I could not believe my eyed and I spent the rest of the drinks terrified this man would come back, say something, and cause one of my grieving friends to break down or blow up. You never know what someone's day was like so don't treat people who are being perfectly pleasant badly.
Then we had to pay a €200+ bill on ONE card. They refused to even let us do it in two payments. I know that the Netherlands typically does frown on splitting a bill to many ways, but even my Dutch friends were confused and annoyed.
I'm never returning here again, at a moment of deep vulnerability and sadness I was made to feel unsafe by a waiter who was taking something else wrong that day on a group of people grieving their dead best friend....
Read moreOrdering via QR code is a brilliant idea, and the payment is so easy! There is no problem, if you're a Dutch a speaker. There was a German translation option on the application. So my friend looked at the menu in German. She ordered croquettes for herself, at the end she got nachos. I have no idea, how the translation can be wrong between German and Dutch. The waitress tried to help and fix this issue. She said we need to pay for nachos, even we didn't order it. However the boss didn't try to give nice treatments to us. We proposed that we shouldn't pay for nachos and it might be a free treatment to us. But the boss just rejected it. I don't think I can go this place again. Because I will not know what will come after ordering on the application. Nobody will try to fix it.
I should also admit the Vega set...
Read moreDefinitely the worst service ever! We came around 14:00, it wasn’t busy. We sat at the terrace area and ordered “mexicaanse kip sandwiches and “vegetarian sandwiches”. It’s 14:05. Then we played some Pokémon (it was community day). If anyone played Pokémon, he/she would know when you put a personal incense on, it last around 30minutes. We each started one, and when it’s over, the food was still not here. And people who came after us had been served and were half way through their meals. When we asked the waiter, we had trouble finding him. Eventually we found him sitting inside at the bar, eating his sandwich and flipping Tinder on his phone... we won’t be back again. And I highly recommend that you bring your own snacks before you go there,...
