Hemingway — Restaurant in Venlo

I will start with the atmosphere. The restaurant is pretty cozy. There is not a lot of table inside, so the service is quick. However, for the tourists in Venlo, I would skip this place. During my lunch there, I had tea, starter and a main dish. The tea they served was a supermarket tea. it does not mean that the tea was bad, but when you go to a restaurant like this one (it is a bit more pricy compared to others) you would expect to get something more high-end/exclusive. The starter was bread with some sauces. the bread was delicious, however, it was not a lot, especially giving the price (in my opinion). The main dish I got was kip sate. I am extremely disappointed. The amount of chicken was not more than 200 grams, the salad that I got was very small amount and the side chips was literally 5 chips. As a side dish I got to share fries and salad with another person from the group of friends I was with. The price of that meal was 22 euros. For 22 euros you deserve to get a bigger portion or your own fries (preferably one more kip sate to make it 2).

If you are a person who likes to enjoy an atmosphere and a bit more interesting foods, then Hemingway is definitely for you. If you go there, make sure to have something to eat beforehand, because the meal portions will not...

Auf der Suche nach einem guten Restaurant das keine Frittenbude ist, bin ich über Google bei diesem Restaurant gelandet. Rezensionen waren ok und mit viel Glück ergatterten wir einen Tisch im hinteren Teil des Restaurants.

Als Vorspeise bestellten wir Brot mit drei Dips. Erwartet haben wir ein Körbchen mit Baguettescheiben, erhalten haben wir ein warmes, knuspriges GANZES Brot was unglaublich gut mit den Dips harmonisierte.

Als Hauptspeise gab es Spareribs mit zwei Dips, Kartoffelchips und Salat sowie den Hemingway Burger. Gewünscht war „very well done“ und es kam….. Perfekt! Trotz vollem Haus wurde dieser Wunsch auch super umgesetzt. Nicht staubtrocken und dennoch richtig durchgegart. Vom Salat und den Chips hätten wir sogar noch Nachschlag ohne Aufpreis bekommen. Wir waren platt vor Erstaunen. Die Spareribs waren so zart, das sie vom Knochen gefallen sind. Die Marinade war sehr lecker.

Nachtisch haben wir nicht mehr geschafft. Dafür bestellten wir zwei Espresso, die sehr gut waren. Dazu gab es Schlagsahne mit einem Kaffeesirup und typischerweise ein kleines Glas Wasser.

Der Service war sehr gut, es wurde gefragt ob alles ok ist und wir wurden zeitnah bedient. Dazu waren die Kellner sehr nett und haben uns auch die Tagesangebote vorgestellt und erklärt.

Das Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis ist hier gut.
