Stadscafé Blij — Restaurant in Zwolle

My recent visit to Stadscafé Blij in Zwolle left much to be desired. While the establishment had a lot of potential, it fell short due to its peculiar table arrangement. The tables were placed in a way that made it seem like you were dining with total strangers, which created an uncomfortable and intrusive atmosphere.

The lack of privacy and personal space greatly detracted from the overall dining experience. It felt as though you were eavesdropping on neighboring conversations and had limited room to enjoy your meal in peace.

Despite this disappointing aspect, there were some positive aspects to mention. The menu offered a decent variety of dishes, and the food itself was reasonably good. The service was attentive and friendly, which helped to somewhat offset the awkward seating arrangement.

In summary, while Stadscafé Blij had potential, the uncomfortable table placement overshadowed the positives. It's a place I'd hesitate to revisit unless they address the issue of seating arrangement to ensure a more enjoyable...

During our holiday in the Netherlands we visited Blij in the city of Zwolle. We chose this restaurant because of his location. The restaurant is located in the city center of Zwolle. The building is an old manor house with a very big terrace. When we visited Blij the weather was good and many people were eating and drinking outside.

I can advise you to reserve a table when you want to eat here. This was because when we came we needed to eat inside because the terrace was already fully booked. The menu was not very special but good. They have a lot of beers and cocktails on the menu. As an appetizer I took the duck and my wife the triple croquettes. These were not special. As a main dish I took the schnitzel and my wife the satay. Like the appetizer, these were not special.

I gave the restaurant 4 stars because the location is good and the dishes are good but not special. But the price quality...

We ordered two beers and 5 tapas dishes. After half an hour no food no beer. Tapas dishes and knives and forks on the table. Trying to get staffs attention but were ignored at least three times. When we were finally taken notice off our food and drink had been ordered with the wrong table number. The food came and it was obviously cold. The beer was warm. No one came near us again to ask if we wanted any more beer!!!. We had to ask for the bill, when she arrived she said the amount was wrong?? Didn't say how. Came back expecting for us just to pay without telling us how much it was. We insisted on knowing how much it was. We were overcharged for one of the items. We were asked was everything ok with the meal???? Answer NO, she became aggressive and...
