Was a regular here ordering once a week atleast for a good 6 months or so then the food quality started to decline, every now and again it would be nice but more then often it was losing the quality and food standard i had first experienced. The last time and biggest problem i had with this place was i gave them one last chance and ordered the carbonara, I have never been so sick in my life! I was literally bed ridden for 5 days and I didnt fully recover for 2 weeks. I have never had a pain of sickness like this before. I've never had food poisoning before and now understand why it can be so dangerous or fatal to humams. I saw the standards decline over a period of time. We use to dine in at first but I couldn't stand the arrogance of the owner, in your face and not welcoming and just not a good fit for hospitality or front of house. The food was good so I would come in to pick up my order or get it delivered instead because the owners attitude and arrogance stop me from wanting to see him or dinning in. Once the food quality declined so badly and we were not enjoying the food anymore then when we gave them the last chance and I caught violent food poisoning from bad hygiene practises or food storage or whatever it was I could no longer go there again and look I'm not upset about not going back there again either. I almost lodge a complaint with food safety but as I was so violently ill in bed with food poisoning I didnt do it because I could only focus on my health at that point. We found a new place called Tonnino Pizzeria in Mission Bay that place is amazing and a good example of what a quality and fresh consistent Italian...

I don’t take pleasure in writing this as I work in the restaurant business and know the toll of a bad review. However, this is necessary.

We were planning to eat here after we ran a few errands (post office and library) so we parked our car in the lot out front. There was no clear signage that non-customers couldn’t park there and we chose that spot because we knew we would run a few errands before coming in as “customers.”

We were hardly gone 30 minutes and we returned to the parking lot to find out car had been clamped by the owner/staff and had to pay $200 to get it off. This is an outrageous action to take against someone parking in this spot with no clear signage during non-peak hours. The only customers that deterred due to parking was us! We obviously didn’t go eat there after this.

Speeding tickets cost less than this fine and speeding actually endangers peoples lives!

I suggest the owner of this establishment channel their effort into putting up proper signage rather than resorting to fining LOCALS an outrageous fine and inconveniencing them. He even said he saw us come back to the car to put our mail in before heading to the library. He knew we were locals.

Let’s put some effort to build a community and solve problems with acts of constructive efforts and decency.

Completely put off by this and don’t suggest eating at an establishment with this...

As you will see the last 6 reviews are all from the same group. Here is the facts a booking was made for 16 people the guy who booked it was informed that the group booking is fine but they must respect our other guests keep the noise down etc the guy agreed to this. Then he confirmed his numbers on Saturday afternoon and was once again told about the noise and respect our other customers. They turned up and after 30 minutes or so were told by my waiter Andrew they had to keep the noise down. They didn’t so after 5 times of telling them Andrew apparently got angry with the girl that was screaming she got upset. Then they all paid and guess what not one single one of them complained about any of the food whatsoever. Two girls complained about Andrew how he told one off thats ALL. Now these immature childish group are posting reviews-which dont bother me at all. Unfortunately for some of you who actually apologised to me the owner Michael about there friends behaviour when they paid i have to once again set the record straight. Your group not all of you were the problem not the waiter grow up act your age and when you do we will let...

After a beautiful afternoon exploring Bastion Point, we stumbled upon this little hidden nest egg. Immediately greeted with warm welcomes and hellos we were treated as if we were regulars. The service from Andrew was outstanding, the quality of food was flavourful and truly impeccable. It feels a crime to spend our money elsewhere as no where else would offer the same passion and quality, the food really does speak for itself. Andrew was personable, he hosted with attention to detail and humour. He could tell us what day the boat went out to catch the fish and how many years his Tongan chef had been working for the establishment. It’s been 24 hours and we’re still raving about it. We’ve let all our friends and family know about Scalini’s. Although we hope this place doesn’t get too busy so we can keep coming back, it’d be unfair to keep this a secret. We will be back over and over again! BYO wine without a cork fee is simply something we can’t pass on. Till next time, - Tash & Matt 😊

Really don't understand why there are so many harsh reviews. Food was incredible. Service was great and and there was a pleasant atmosphere with lovely Italian music in the background. My wife and I had the soup of the day (which was seafood) and the King prawns as starters. Both were delicious and the flavours worked really well in both dishes. For the main we had the fish of the day, which was snapper on a bed of risotto with Basil sauce and lime. It was really a wonderful meal. We were both too full to do dessert. - Special shoutout to the friendly and humourous waiter we had, he made sure we had a great time. **the pictures have empty tables because we were the last in the restaurant, not a reflection on there being no customers ** A couple of tips: 1. Use First Table. We got 50% off our bill. Made the value even better! 2. It is BYO wine. Will be back again!

We went there to celebrate our anniversary. Before going, I checked the Google reviews. The rating was 3.9, so I wasn’t sure how the restaurant would be. However, I really wanted to try it, so we went on Tuesday night. Although it was a weekday, the place was quite busy with people enjoying their meals. We ordered an anchovy pasta (can’t remember the exact name), a seafood risotto, and a steak with cream sauce. The flavours were amazing, and for me, it was the perfect choice for our anniversary dinner. I even said it was the best Italian food I’ve ever had in my life. I like home-style cooking, and the food here really felt like Italian home food, the kind an Italian mum would cook. The owner of the restaurant was humorous, kind, and welcoming. I’d absolutely love to go back and try more dishes from the menu next time.
