Golden Garden Restaurant — Restaurant in Ōtara-Papatoetoe

We bought fried rice from them for dinner around 1pm and had it for dinner around 6pm but it had gone bad. It seemed like old rice was used to make it because it became really slimy and smelled bad - normally this happens when the food is a day or two old not when its been only 5 hours. We always used to get fried rice from this place, even during summer and this has never happened before so we called to let the owner know but she started arguing with us and was extremely rude even though we told her nicely and then she told us it's our fault and we should've kept it in the fridge - mind you the food was not kept out in the sun or any where muggy. We also had food that was made in the morning which was still perfectly fine.

We will never go back to this place, not because of the food because it was a one off thing but because how rude...

Not appealing to the eyes, it’s a restaurant that is always empty but wanted to give it a try. The service was meh, there was only one staff member that we could see and her service was not that great. Cutlery, plates, bowls and cups where dirty with old dry little food spots, looked like the dishes were not washed properly. The FOOD on the other had… my partner and myself rated it a hard 2 out of 10. It was not the best, the steak we ordered was way to hard to bit in, some parts of the rice were dry and the chicked wings were not that great. Food was not it. Visited this place for the first time ever and found the operators to be extremely polite, helpful and fast to attend their customers with a beautiful smile and greetings, not to forget to mention that lady at the counter was equipped with a face mask and wearing gloves even though we are on level 1. They take peoples health and safety seriously protecting customers and themselves for which i applaud them for their efforts. The food was realy good. Nothing to be faulted.
