First impressions are always important in a cafe, feeling welcomed and cozy in said cafe is part of the experience. As soon as I stepped into the door the atmosphere and “energy” was vibrant, homey and most importantly welcoming. I was in a group but I don’t want to write a novel describing everyone’s food, so I will just go into detail with mine. I ordered the beautiful honey toasted cinnamon bagel. The food we ordered all came out at the same time at a responsible pace. As soon as it came out we realised the presentation was absolutely amazing. The care put into every dish is stunning, my photos do not do it justice. That first bite may have been the best thing I have ever eaten, somehow a single bite had multiple sweetnesses all waiting for there turn. First very sweet, then all most savoury, then sweet with the raspberries and finally back to the good ol’ taste of a perfectly cooked bagel. I was very impressed with that feat of food engineering and culinary arts. The rest was just as good with the contrasting flavours and textures. Overall I highly enjoyed the entire experience. The only thing I can complain about was that our server seemed to be quite frankly a bit board and uninterested, but they didn’t really have any effect on the overall atmosphere of our Mother’s Day breakfast.

Capers Cafe + Store in Rotorua is an absolute gem for breakfast lovers! 🌅 From the moment you step in, the vibrant and cozy atmosphere welcomes you with open arms. The staff is incredibly friendly and attentive, ensuring a pleasant start to your day. The cafe is spacious, with plenty of seating options to choose from, whether you prefer a sunny spot by the window or a more intimate corner. The breakfast menu is nothing short of impressive. 🍳 We decided to try their famous Eggs Benedict and a stack of fluffy pancakes. The Eggs Benedict was perfection – the hollandaise sauce was rich and creamy, and the eggs were poached to perfection. The pancakes were light, airy, and came with a generous serving of fresh berries and maple syrup. Each bite was a delightful blend of flavors that left us wanting more. What sets Capers Cafe + Store apart is their commitment to quality and local produce. 🥑 They source their ingredients from nearby farms, ensuring everything is fresh and delicious. We also enjoyed browsing their store, which offers a variety of gourmet products and unique gifts. It's the perfect spot to pick up a souvenir or treat yourself to something special. All in all, Capers Cafe + Store is a must-visit in Rotorua!

Nice cafe to dine in, but quite pricey. I visited this cafe on a Monday with my family members for brunch. Despite being a weekday, the cafe was surprisingly busy. It was nice to see a variety of menu, some with their own twists. We ordered few breakfast menus - waffles, egg’s benedict with pork, and big breakfast. I would like to try egg’s benedict with perhaps bacon or salmon. Pork was a bit too much for me. Plus, when there’s no greens to go with it, the whole dish felt a bit greasy. It was a new menu for me hence why we ordered it. Big breakfast is as you would expect. Each ingedient was well cooked and again found the dish didn’t have much greens. But otherwise, it was satisfactory. Waffles were nice and simple, sweet and jammy. The staff were very nice and attentive. We were surprised to get our dishes just after 10 minutes! That was a very pleasant surprise. Coffees were nice but may have been better in cups with handles. Having a latte in a casual glass might be hot for some to hold. The store is worth looking around. It has some interesting items. Overall, it was worth a visit. Food portion for the price could have been a bit better. But if you are around in town, this place would be one of few options for brunch.

Absolutely loved our morning at capers! There was a bit of a line to order at the counter, but it moved very quickly. Only waited aboot 15 min for food even though it was a elatively busy Sunday morn. The decor was really nice and it was all very tidy and clean. There was an amazing array of really delicious looking cabinet food, both sweet and savory. I ordered the eggs Benedict with bacon and spinach and it was 10/10 bang on perfect and delicious! (I'm a big bene eater and this is one of the best I've had in nz !) Also came with 3 eggs which I've never seen before, so bonus. Perfectly cooked poached eggs too and the hollandaise was spot on. Hubby had the big brekky, which he said was 8/10. Coffee was good, and the berry smoothie was also great. They have a good little kids play room in the corner and a lovely gift shop too with lots of really nice goodies, we picked up some bits and pieces for family for Xmas. 10/10 would recommend and we will 100% be back, Capers will be my go to now when in Rotorua! (Ps they also had a great kids menu, not just chips and nuggets!)

I just love this place so much ! Extremely delicious, mouthwatering food at such affordable prices. This is a great place for a pleasant, appetising brunch or a chilling night out with your fam. Several choices of delightful dishes in the menu that won’t disappoint you. Me and my family loved everything we ordered that day and we cannot rave enough about Capers ! Very well seasoned food with elegant displays. Nice and cozy atmosphere with adorable setups and decorations. I adore the manager of this place so much and I’m so grateful to him that he let my puppy stayed with us and thoughtfully seated us in a table outside, after I explained to him that it was our last day in Rotorua and we didn’t want to leave the little doggo in the car. So nice, so warm-hearted, so passionate, and so professional. I know one thing for sure that Caper Cafe + Store will go further and further in the future because they provide everything that a good hospitality service should be like. I highly recommend this place !!

Food is decent but service is really lacking. Came here as a group. This is a cafe so you grab a menu from the counter, find a table, choose what you want and then go back up to order and pay. You are expected to know your table number for the food to be delivered to which is really annoying. Coffee came out quickly and efficiently but the reason for a 1 star review is that the service was the worst. I was bumped in to not once, but three times by the same server. I wasn't in the middle of the pathway and there was plenty of space between my seat and the next table, no excuses for this happening three times. When our food came out, the server pretty much slammed on the table. We weren't given knives and forks, had to get up and get them ourselves and Nobody came up to ask how the meals were. Capers used to have a strong reputation in Rotorua as a must visit destination, but after my experience recently, I would recommend giving this a miss.
