edit 1 please ignore the good review i had given countdown previously. I was then writing writing to praise 3 staff members. they still deserve the praise, they were great However, today I asked for help. Simple help that would have taken 2 minutes or less. I noted a home help advert on an ad on the noticeboard, and made a note of the phone number on my hand. Unfortunately by the time I arrived home, it was smudged. I live at the lake and it is quite a way into town, so I called Countdown Fenton street asking for help, if someone would look at the noticeboard and tell me the number. When I saw the ad earlier in the day there were very few notices on the board and it would have been easy to identify one that said housekeeper wanting work. The first person who answered the phone heard what I was asking simply hung up on me. The second person said she would put me through to customer service. customer service allowed the phone to ring for a VERY long time, and then hung up. I called a third time and someone in another department said she would transfer me to the customer help department. I asked her not to as they were not just unhelpful but downright rude. She said she has to put me through there, it is the only option, a hang up again at customer help/support department. I called back, the same lady told me that she can only try again.. I said to this lady (who was not at fault) that seems to be useless, either they hang up before even answering, or immediately after. But I tell you what, please let them know that I would contact both the owner of the store and the manager and report the hang ups. The phone was answered. A person who told me his name is Jimmy, looked on the notice board, and was back to me with the number I needed in under 1 minute.
I think the owner and the manager may wish to speak to the female staff on duty at the Customer Support people on Friday 14th April around 6 ish -and have little chat to them about hanging up on customers. Frankly, although I loved Countdown Fenton street, I will give it a wide berth when I shop the next 3-4 months at least. The previous well deserved 5 star treatment is reduced to 2 for the appalling behavior of the hang ups.
original post i am writing to praise 3 of your staff. Last night, we had dinner out and went to Countdown to do a big shop. I arrived not much before closing time (which I had not realised) but before I could shop a serious tummy pain hit me and I needed to visit the loo. In spite of the store just about to close, one of the staff called the person in charge who took the trouble to walk me around to the toilets, wait a discrete distance away and walked me back. By which time the store had emptied. This had eaten into their going home time, yet all 3 ladies who were involved getting me to the loo in time, were super friendly, understood and helped. now this has nothing to do with the food, but this shows the excellent, caring staff that this Countdown has. I LOVE shopping at this Countdown. Thank you ladies - including the one who loaned me her pen. ...
Read moreI'm absolutely disgusted in your service! My email complaint below after waiting at store for an hour, calling online service, then getting disconnected from chat after an hour!!! we are left $300 out of pocket on an off pay week and have to wait 7 days to get our money back as you were out of stock and took the money anyway!!!! This is another reason we stopped shopping here!!!!!!
Hi there
I would like to formally complain and escalate my refund please.
I arrived at Rotorua Countdown yesterday to find the 10kg ham was out of stock. This was frustrating as I was able to order online and it is for a work function this morning so had little time to organise something else.
The worker suggested I go in store, this wasn't possible as my 4 year old twins were asleep in the car. He then said they have a ham out the back they could try and substitute so we waited an hour to then be told they couldn't do it and our $140.00 will be refunded in 7 days.
We have then had to use our savings as mentioned this was for a work function, go elsewhere and buy another ham. We are now left short for a birthday we were attending this weekend because you have taken the funds from our account and also couldn't provide a ham either.
I rang customer service last night, she said she would put through urgently, and asked why the store couldn't have tried one of the other countdowns in Rotorua to supply one.
I contacted your chat service this morning and Lily then disconnected the chat while saying she was reviewing my complaint for me but also said it would take 7 days.
I'm absolutely appalled how much hassle this has been and the time I've taken trying to get our money back which we need this...
Read moreHello, I am French, and when I came to New Zealand where two of my children live for more than 7 and 4 years, I stayed in Rotorua from December 12 to 16, 2018, with my grandson Paul. Once, when paying for my purchases with my CB, it has not worked despite several tests. Paul's mom, by phone, solved the problem, but for a while, the client who was following me paid the $ 25 of my bill, wishing me Merry Christmas. I was at the same time bored, surprised, grateful, thanked her. I wanted to know her name to give her back, but she was already gone. I would like, if this lady is a regular customer of the Rotorua store, that she knows how much I was touched by her gesture. my email address is omft2000@gmail.com If you find it useful, I could give you my postal address
I do not speak English very well, I use an online translator to write to you, but I can read your answer in the same way. I would like to add my photo to be recognizable, but it seems impossible with this means of contact.
Thank you, if you can spread my message in your store, maybe this nice lady (blonde, with glasses if I remember correctly) will read it my sincere thoughts of France
Best...
