This would be the most expensive meal for the least amount of food my partner and I have ever eaten! $160 for very meager portions and we each had a peach cocktail which I'm sure was straight out of a bottle with flaked coconut on top. $36 for those two drinks!!! Broccoli entree was a small stalk of broccoli with about a teaspoon of grilled seaweed....$18. Sweet corn entrée (tasted just like creamed corn), about half a cup....$18. But the biggest rip off was the main dish. We both had butterfly prawns. Six medium sized prawns on each plate with a meagre amount of sauce. Nothing else. $60!!!!
Seriously cannot recommend this restaurant and we eat out a lot. Only thing going for the restaurant were the friendly staff. Even though there were glasses on the table but no water was offered.
Would not recommend. Left Hungary and $160 out of pocket.
This is in response to the owner's feedback. I know what fusion cooking is. It is not difficult to do. And my partner told me after I put up this review that we only got 5 prawns on each of our plates. With a dribble of sauce. So 10 prawns on our plate for...
Read moreI live in Tamaki Mākaurau (Auckland) and always come to Cigol whenever I visit my family. Coming from the city where I’m spoilt for Korean and fusion cuisine, Cigol is at the top for me. The flavours in every dish whether it’s brocollini, salmon sashimi, KFC or lamb are so unique and delicious.
The vibes are always good, with nice seating options, chill music and friendly service. Drink options are good, with local brewery Mata on the menu, wines, yummy cocktails and of course, soju.
Favourite dish for me is the Bingsu bowl (it says you can share between two but I always regret not having one to myself) but I feel it’s cheating to pick a dessert as a favourite… so favourite dish has got to be the sashimi options. Either kingfish or salmon, they always have insane dressings with them and taste so fresh 😋
The menu changes ever so slightly with the seasons too so there’s always something new to try whenever I come back. No photos for this review because I have to race with the whānau to get food...
Read moreWhile the flavors are delicious, the vibe of the room is comfortable, this is about where the delight ends. In the first photo you have the "kfc" Korean fired chicken with lotus chips, unfortunately it does not infact come with lotus chips. The entire meal is what you see there, and at $25 I really don't think it's worth the money, 4 pieces for chicken and a dipping sauce. When it is specifically stated in the menu you expect this to be included, not as a few crumbs on the sauce or one chip on the top. It was specifically stated there, not intended as a garnish. When I asked about it I got blown off. Also the service was quite poor, we have one waitress pick up a plate that we hadn't finished using yet without even speaking too us or asking us first. To be honest I feel that this restaurant isn't really worth the visit. A definite step...
