Don Kebab — Restaurant in Bay of Plenty

HALAL / NOT HALAL ??!!

When I entered there was two hard working staff as the place was a bit busy, approached an Indian looking man and asked him if their food is Halal certified?, he looked at his colleague who is asian looking and telling him that I’m asking if the food is Halal!!

The asian guy tells me that it is Halal, i asked him that i want to see the certificate, he quickly went to open the cashier machine drawer and look between the pages of a notebook that was in that drawer for few seconds then he apologized politely and told me that he can’t find it.

Well,

If it’s Halal, the certificate would be hung on the wall with all the required details for any kind of verification not in the drawer so i guess with that fact in mind plus the fact that a worker their wasn’t sure if it is Halal or not says it all.

I understand that a town and a place like that doesn’t rely on the Muslim community as their isn’t many who live their, however transparency is important no matter what.

Please be aware!!!

This post would be deleted upon getting a copy of your halal certificate or a confirmation that you aren’t a Halal restaurant and any other review on any other social media based applications.

To the below owners response: We ordered a mixed lamb and chicken dish for nearly $20, and the portion was incredibly disappointing. There were only a few scraps of chicken , which is completely unacceptable. I understand prices are higher now , but this is outright cheat! To make matters worse the owner/wife was always rude and communication was difficult because she cant speak english properly. Perhaps she should take some esol class and learn some customer service skills. This is a clear case of poor service and even worse value. Do yourself a favor and avoid this...
