Black & White Coffee Cartel — Restaurant in Christchurch

Popped in for a coffee and to do some work for an hour. I got distracted by the food cabinet and succumbed to some chocolate brownie, mmm it was awesome although I should of asked for some yoghurt on the side. I sat against the wall for some privacy while giving other diners space to have coffee or brunch with friends. I watched the staff being busy and attending to everyone in a timey fashion. My ride was late so I ordered loaded wedges. These where more than enough for my lunch and were bought to me with a smile. The staff were engaging, experienced and helpful, the coffee was great, and food worthy of my return. I was a solo diner but didn't feel put of place. I would rate this experience an 8/9 out of 10 and would return to see what other delights they have in their food cabinet or from the menu. Their paninis are fantastic, I had a good chocolate and it was smooth, not burnt at all and the perfect temperature! I can honestly say one of the best hot chocolates I have ever had so cudos to the girl behind the machine! For service wise a mistake was made where I accidentally misheard and picked up someone else's order and she immediately ran over to the other people to offer to make a new one - we hadn't touched the order yet so the other people weren't worried- but that sort of service was exceptional and I'd have paid for the others new order being my mistake had it come to that. Prices are also really good to be expected but really good in comparison.

Friendly staff all round and somewhere I'll bring my special needs brother in the future on his trips down south! He likes to be a coffee...

Great cafe, good food, nice coffee. But ditch the Europeon Kiwi I think waitress. You don't get a second chance at a good first impression. She served me with a frown a mild wild. No manners, I watched her not once greet anyone, thank anyone. Not a smile in over 40 minutes. I wasn't intentionally watching, but for a cafe in an area full of cafes, that's not going to be good for business I know I'll go back across the road to the competition next time, which is a shame. But no one wants to see bad hospitality in a competitive hospo environment. Fyi. I am a Kiwi. This isn't race driven, just driven...
