Edgardo's Grill — Restaurant in Christchurch

This place was recommended to me by a kiwi guy I randomly chatted with at the airport when I said I was craving for a good barbeque. And he was 100% right on the money. The wonderful smell of grilled meat even from across the road where I parked was enough to make my mouth water. I went there during peak lunch hour and the place was packed (it was a small place, probably could seat 20 people tops), so I had to do a takeaway, but they got my order ready in no time. They handed the order in a paper bag, and I knew right away it wasn't gonna make it home before getting eaten lol, it smelled SOOO GOOD! So I looked for a shaded spot nearby to park my car, didn't even get a chance to take a photo of the meal because I could no longer resist the mouthwatering smell and I dove straight right in. Pork skewer was so tender, juicy and packed full of flavour, chicken thigh was also very yummy! They would probably even taste better with the dipping sauces that came with the order but they were tasty enough as they were and I didn't wanna make a mess in the car (they didn't come in a plastic takeaway container, only in a paper bag and rice was balled and wrapped in cling wrap so it was handy to eat). Decided to try this place out after walking past so many times and it always smelled so good. We ordered a family meal with chicken and pork belly, and WOW that was probably the best pork belly I've tasted in my life no joke. The chicken was really good too as well as the sauces that come with!! Although I wouldn't say this is a dine-in restaurant, there is very limited seating so I recommend to just order takeaway, however we noticed a free table and asked the staff if we could eat some of our food in, they were extremely accomodating and quickly prepared the table for us which was really nice. My sister and I are quite new to filipino food but the staff were sooo lovely, explained what the sauces were etc and packed the rest of our food up for us when we were done. This is the best Inasal with the most authentic flavor I've ever tasted in New Zealand. I didn't realize it could only be found in Christchurch. The balance of flavors is perfect, and both the chicken and pork are grilled to perfection with no burnt taste. The fluffy, pearly rice topped with chicken oil enhances the overall experience. I only wish they had more space to accommodate more diners, as this dish is best enjoyed freshly cooked. I can't wait to return to Christchurch just to experience it again....
