Sugarhorse Bar & Eatery | Function Venue — Restaurant in Christchurch

Came here for Mother's Day lunch with my family. It wasn't very busy at all. The staff looked after us. Menu is very limited and the food didn't look like much but was good price and portions for us and my parents still took home leftovers of their Fish & Chips and Double Beef Burger meals so I think it's a nice place for elderly and smaller tummies. I had Salmon Fillet as it was the only GF meal on the menu other than a salad. My partner had the Prawn Fettucine and a pint.

We had fun with the CrowdDJ too and I was able to put on some ABBA for Mum and Johnny Cash for Dad, though not exactly what the other diners/staff were probably into!

It's hard for us to find suitable venues for us to go out together as my Dad needs particularly high seating/tables after his knee operations and Sugarhorse has these! Based on the good time we had this visit we're keen to go back for the next...

My husband's beetroot salad and coffee were good. Mine on the other hand.... I ordered deep fried cauliflower, it was all most black and solid if it wasn't slightly warm I would have thought it was somones leftovers from the day b4.

My replacement meal wasn't really much better but at least it was edible ish. The mushrooms were old the poached egg was almost entirely solid other than a wee section of yolk, the bread was awful and soggy which is strange as it was meant to be toasted. My side salad was fine and they remembered to remove the tomatoes at least. It took way too long for my meal to be replaced, I also wasn't given any cutlery for my meal which is now take out as my husband had well and truly finished his meal and needed to get back to work. The staff were ok but didn't seem to really Care, nice enough but not...

We had our daughter, Nicoles, 21st, on Saturday 20 February, 2021, and I cant speak highly enough, of the friendly, efficient staff, as well as the owner, Pete. They all went out of their way to make this event flawless, and very memorable. Communication re Nicoles venue, from Pete, the owner, was incredible. We were keep in the loop all the way, discussing all options, timing of food to appear, music available, the cakes appearance, etc, etc. As for the food, it was impeccable, in quality, quantity, fresheness, and taste. The grazing table was repleneshed without delay, and the range of drinks available was very broard, and of great quality.
