Gothic Heights Motel — Hotel in Christchurch

Honestly we were absolutely gobsmacked at the cleanliness of this place. With poo still on the toilet, mould, stains everywhere this place needs to be shut down. We got the superior room which was appauling but for the prices we assumed it wouldn't be as bad as what it was. There wasn't enough coffee or sugar to get us through the night, the sky had no channels available, the wifi dipped in & out & we work on computers so it made working a total nightmare. When we approached staff one of the cleaners at fault for this devastation denied being responsible, he was argumentative at start. I was trying to politely explain to the owner they need to reconsider the market as we paid the same price for a brand newly built 3 bedroom apartment for 1 night for the same price it was to stay there. We were not offered any kind of compensation or partial refund. Have stayed in alot of hotels and this was definitely the worst!!!!!! Do NOT...

If you need to stay near Christchurch Public Hospital or want a quiet motel within walking distance of Cathedral Square, Gothic Heights is a good choice. There is a 4m by 4.4m (nearly) lounge/bedroom with a small separate kitchen leading to the bathroom. We found room 16 quiet and comfortable It was plainly but well furnished. We were there for one night only but feel one could stay several days. The wifi was free and working well. Food was harder to find but was within (a longish?) walking distance. Management was helpful with advice . All the rooms are the same and all at ground level. We took an upgraded room for an extra $20 because it had been refurbished. We had no problems getting about on foot and taking the odd taxi but others may feel happier...

Although this facility is in need of some upgrades there are some unacceptable things that need immediate attention & should have been done by now by the new owners. These are.......

Bed was the worst in the world. Needs new matress as you could feel the springs.

Curtains did not close properly so no privacy in the unit, totally unacceptable!

Not enough tea & coffee supplied.

No real service at front desk on check in or check out. Attendee appeared totally disinterested.

The road noise in our unit was unbearable on friday night due to moorehouse ave traffic. Noted that window seals had failed some time ago & not...
