The Black Horse Hotel — Restaurant in Christchurch

We showed up just as renovations were recently completed, and honestly, it made the stay even more special. The owner is a super generous and welcoming guy—he personally walked us through the hotel and showed us all the changes he’s made. You can tell he really cares about the place.

It’s one of the oldest pubs we’ve ever stayed in, and hands down one of the cleanest. Full of charm, history, and good vibes. The updates look amazing already, and we’re excited to come back and stay more often when coming to chch

Highly recommend if you're after a place with character, comfort, and a personal touch. Loved every minute! and food is must try, nice pub. loved the dart game...

Been to the newly opened restaurant twice and it's only been open 2 weeks

Ordered the steak and both times it was cooked perfectly It was also a big steak 300g for $34 it's certainly good value The veg accompaniment was delicious I tried the pasta tonight and it too was yummy (sorry about the pasta photo but it was so yum I forgot to photograph it before I ate it 😋)

Downside we are sitting in the public bar but I believe they are working on...

If you want nostalgia this is the place. Never changes (only the owners), 😂 but, it's refreshing to see the past in this world of modern. Also, seeing the young and old mixing and communicating was heart-warming. Staff were very friendly and, the place was spotless, Yaaaaaay. Lastly, the chips were "Awesome" haven't seen them that big for years, well...
