The SPCA, and a variety of animal rights organisations, leading animal experts, including veterinarians, pleaded with you not to allow the 2014 rodeo to go ahead. You ignored all of those warnings, and went ahead regardless. This resulted in a bull dying, due to injuries sustained to it during one of the events that night. The event promoter hailed it as a success, clearly he couldn't care less about this. The VBase General Manager at the time, Darren Burden, is to date still in that position. His response and attitude to the events that occurred under his watch have been dismissive and defensive in tone. It is sad to see such a miserable failure, completely ignoring the advice of a wide range of animal welfare experts, hand waving away the fact that one of those groups was the highly respected RSPCA. One must wonder if Burden ought to be in a rates pay-rolled employment position at all. I certainly don't want to pay for him with my rates. I don't suppose there's an opt-out scheme for that?! Seriously though, when will those responsible for management level oversight begin to take responsibility for, what are clearly, their own mistakes? When will the response to every mistake, ever made by council management, not be, rather than admittance of error, just an illogically constructed rationalization as to how it wasn't really their fault, or it couldn't really have been avoided? There's nothing accidental about animal experts specifically telling you several times that rodeo harms animals, you arrogantly assuming that you must somehow know more than people that are experts in their field, and the consequences which in this case was animal cruelty, suffering, and the death of one of the animals. That's...

I recently attended the Careers Expo at Wolfbrook Arena, and it was an outstanding experience. Wolfbrook Arena is a top-notch facility, perfectly suited for hosting large-scale events. The arena's modern design and spacious layout provided an ideal setting for both exhibitors and attendees, making the entire event feel well-organized and professional.

The staff at Wolfbrook Arena were exceptional. From seamless check-ins to efficient crowd management, their professionalism ensured a smooth experience for everyone. The support provided to exhibitors was particularly commendable, with staff readily available to assist with any setup needs and inquiries throughout the event.

The atmosphere was electric, buzzing with enthusiasm and energy. The arena's well-lit and clean environment, combined with excellent acoustics, made for an engaging and pleasant experience. The layout facilitated easy navigation between booths, allowing attendees to explore a wide range of career opportunities effortlessly. It was clear that a lot of thought had gone into making the space user-friendly and accessible.

Wolfbrook Arena boasts excellent facilities, including ample parking, clean restrooms, and various food and beverage options. The Wi-Fi connectivity was reliable, which is crucial for an event of this scale, ensuring that exhibitors and attendees could stay connected and access information quickly.

Overall, the Careers Expo at Wolfbrook Arena was a resounding success, thanks in large part to the outstanding venue. Highly recommended for anyone planning a large event or expo, as Wolfbrook Arena truly excels in providing a...

Went to Queens of the stoneage last night. I would give 5 stars purely because the wonderful usher Kay (shorter blonde woman upstairs by door 3?) she was amazing! I wrecked my knees after we got tickets/ right before the concert and after trying to sit in seats up in section R/ E but it was just too painful. Kay was so wonderful at getting us down on the landing so I could be semi comfortable and actually enjoy the concert! Other than that if you have any mobility issues I wouldn't recommend trying to get "cheap seats" they're tiny, uncomfortable. You don't have enough space to even attempt sitting in a way you can stretch your legs out as the seats in front slide back when someone sits down (as my knees found out by being slammed into as someone sat down). They also didn't have screens up so poor eyesight or any visual difficulties forget seeing anything other than lights and moving shapes. They do offer a lot of mobility parking but people like to park there without mobility stickers for pick up 🙃. Also the 2 lovely guys on the elevator were so good! Geoffrey and a younger guy made great security on the elevator haha. The security staff were also amazing and welcoming, when it came to bag checks they were respectful and patient and couldn't fault them! The event workers truly made all the difference for how...

On a positive side we have an indoor venue in this city to host performances of some world class entertainers. That’s the only place in South Island, which can host so many people (almost 9k). Facilities and venue is far from perfect tho. Starting from terrible parking experience, unless you come 2 hours before the show, forget to find any spots and be ready to spend additional extra hour after show to leave the place. Completely unnecessary and only lack of planning and management. Inside the venue is bare minimum with badly designed and non functional facilities. There are just 2 bathrooms on each side with never ending queues, especially for ladies bathrooms. Food and snack areas are just there to sell overpriced booze and nothing else. The whole booze selling at venues is a separate topic, as some people are already completely drunk, ruining experience for others. Not to mentioned they all sit and drive after the event, which is a general problem in this country. Finally the sits are really uncomfortable and not designed for anyone sitting there more than 20 minutes. Overall it’s we don’t have any other choice option, but the city should really think in investing in better facilities and experience

I attended a concert with a friend in a wheelchair. The wheelchair meeting was upstairs at the very opposite end of the arena. So we could see very little, and what we could see was disrupted by other patrons moving in and out of their seats to buy drinks or use the restrooms, all the while talking and opening the doors behind us. It not only shone light in on us but created a draft. Severely affecting our enjoyment of the concert, so much so that my friend wanted to leave early. I was very disappointed, especially for my friend who doesn't get out to concerts much anymore and was so much looking forward to it.

Awesome venue for a concert. We found our parking in under a minute and within 3 minutes we were seated. We went through a vendor kiosk and made our concert memorabilia purchases in about 5 minutes. The venue space made the performance a very intimate experience and we were up close and personal with the artists.
