LJ's The Base — Restaurant in Hamilton

Popped in for what one would expect to be a quick dinner before going to the movies, place was pretty empty so figured time wouldn't be an issue is their generally pretty quick. Fast forward 20 minutes asked the staff member how long it would be which he replied two minutes, another 15 minutes Passed by which time we had to go. Went to speak to him again to say unfortunately it was taking too long and we needed to leave he then proceeded to ramble about just about to plate up however that was absolutely no help to us. They now have a donation of the cost of our meal. The only other group and the restaurant complained moments before I did as well and were still waiting when we left. Also saw him microwaving the mussels, gross. No wonder they're like rubber. I find it absolutely unbelievable how long it took to still not end up with food, if I knew I never would have ordered in the first place. A refund for the absolutely horrendous service wouldn't go a miss however wouldn't be holding my breath. Will...

Last minute decision to head here on a Friday night be ause the Hamilton food markets were too packed, didn't wanna wade through people.

Ordered the platter for 2, and a set of prawn twisters. The platter was genuinely delicious, and the calamari in particular was the best I've come across so far, no chewy rubber this time around!

Service was polite, good seating, and well packaged for takeaway. Good price. For the platter, and based on the menu I'd recommend combos as individual items could easily rack up the dollars.

Staff member was very pleasant to us, showed patience when we had trouble deciding what to order. I noticed the gentleman was quick to clear up after other diners left. Music wasn't too loud, allowing us to converse whilst waiting for our meals. Our meals were cooked & served promptly....also delicious. My 11year old daughter said hers was "chef's kiss". Overall a great lunch....well worth venturing away from the chaotic food court to find our way to LJ's the base. Pricing was standard in this...
