Curated by an MW each selection is pretty much guaranteed to appease you. Then the food !! From the cupboard of a kitchen the most delectable morsels arrive created by the hottest chef in Hawke’s Bay and beyond . Potato doughnuts with Ortiz anchovy and chermoula, the most sinful hash fries , spanner crab toast, puffed halloumi, pork belly with scallops and so many more . Mike, Carlita and Victoria are hospo gods . We’ll be back !

It was worth waiting for the opening. A fantastic addition to the Hastings dining scene. A brilliant selection of wines that comes with a wealth of knowledge that means you'll surely find a wine that suits the occassion, mood and of course the food. Friendly, knowledgeable and attentive the staff make the entire experience something you just want more of. Bravo!

Awesome Wine Tasting and Dinner experience! Our sommelier Victoria was very knowledgeable and somehow managed to bring out a whole bunch of white wines that we loved. Dinner was great - Oysters were fresh, firm and sweet. Spinner Crab Toast and Crispy Pork Cheek were both great modern fusion blasts of well-balanced flavors!

phd level wine knowledge and service- stemware = WOW! factor-

On our special occasion, a 15th wedding Anniversary, we enjoyed chef's multi course 'trust me' offering , a stunning parade of small dishes / tapas.

Generous portions.

Taste and presentation off the charts quality.

Kitchen is 'best in class; best in show', and we've not encountered better in the Hawkes Bay world class wine region.

Value to quality ratio is compelling-

formerly 'go to' venues in 'luxe' or 'prime' bracket for special occasion dining / wining have fallen off the pace (to wit our last experience Mission winery restaurant).

Cellar 495 in Hastings- Michael B's team exceeded expectations and we will return for our next 'special occasion' and recommend to those looking for veritable TOP end treatment in the fine dining sector.

Stopped to chill over a glass of wine. We didn't have time to do a tasting but were recommended wines by the bar manager. I was happy with mine but my partner in crime not so, she drank her wine and said it wasn't really to her taste. The manager expressed his apologies and offered her another glass of choice but as she was driving she turned the offer down. When we went to settle our bill he didn't charge her, she did offer to pay but he wouldn't hear of it , which we both noted and thought it very good of him. Exceptional. The only place I've eaten in the Bay where I've shared that I have a soy allergy, and chef has said, "have whatever you want - I'll make any of the dishes soy free for you." So often I'm presented with the list of the few items I can have; almost never am I told to order based on what I actually want. The food is also interesting, delicious, and Mike and the team know exactly what wines to serve to keep you coming back for more. Have a look next time you're in Hastings!
