I have been an active supporter of At 719 Cafe for many years. Recently it has changed hands, and i always welcome new owners into the community or as they first start in their new business, acquired / purchased. You can always expect some changes, and thats only fair with new owners. But: Never in all my years have I come across such degradation in language, attitude, and lack of customer service. The food has most certainly changed dynamic extensively, and could no longer e considered as quality - Both in determination of presented, cooking texture (EG: Rubber eggs) or even situations of under cooked foods presented when dining in recently. The coffee, NOW prepare yourself for this... has gone up in price (Sure, we get business costs rising) but then also to that same coffee previously through the old owners, was a 'double shot' for its size and price. Therefore the new owners have raised the price, lowered the level of the ingredients you pay for, and if you want a double shot, add ANOTHER 50c to the already added 50c price increase when you pay. Oh, please take my advice here so you don't get verbally smacked about the face in shock. Don't consider wasting your time to simply 'discuss openly and question' the price rise and level or quality of ingredients changing as well with the staff / owners. Because simply put, you are NOT allowed to ask such questions for a fair and valid response. No-no!, these new guys, they will tell you to "Shut your face... Stuff off, and don't bother coming back, that's the price and the way we make it now".
Inconceivable! Let's just say my personal working experience has a plethora of customer service & managing teams across NZ businesses for over 30 years, including over 15 years in hospitality. And I HAVE NEVER come across a business owner so rude, prude, and has lack of tact, complete loss of customer focus and in any suggestion to 'talk with' your customers, they wont, cause they just just shunt them down.
I highly recommend going to places of harmony, where you are greeted well and can talk about any kind of menu item, with the lovely owners of those cafes... Where food is well made, presented, and served hot when required as well. Not At 719 Whangaparaoa, that's for sure. The experience at 719 Whangaparaoa cafe, is completely broken for me and to note - I AM THE SILENT CUSTOMER THAT...

We questioned if they had grain bread she looked awkward and said were we ordering lunch, the time was 1pm..yes we replied. She proceeded to tell us it would be a long wait. As the table of 12 were going to be served before us..when we arrived there were only 3 people at that table..the rest arrived after us, over half an hour and hadn't been served..so we had waited half an hour for her to come back to us..but then didn't want to serve us first..told us they had booked their table the day before..so what ? we were there before ALL of them. We got up and left...we only wanted a toasted sandwich...thanks for nothing..very poor service and wasn't interested in our business...we won't be back..We then drove to Cafe Manly and enjoyed great...
