A really disappointing experience!! A group of us has been coming here for years and have always absolutely loved the quirky feel, good service and great food. This time it was not to be... We arrived and met a friend, whom had already ordered and received her coffee. We waited for menus and for someone to take our drinks order for 20 minutes at which time I helped myself to the menu. After another 10 mins wait we went up to the counter to order. It was not busy. We placed our order and waited for drinks and food. Coffees arrived soon after. They did not clear used cups the entire time we were there (on our table) even after we tried to hand them to waitstaff. We were unable to place further drinks orders after finishing our coffees as staff were extremely inattentive. We waited for our food for 30 mins at which time we went up to ask what was going on. One meal was delivered shortly after. Disappointed customer as the order was wrong. Noone came to check if the meal was alright even after it sat untouched for 7 minutes (at this time we were timing!!). We went up again to the counter saying we were not happy with the service and the food and asked if someone could please come to rectify the situation. We waited a further 6 minutes and noone came to our table. They did however whisper and point (we assumed about us). My meal was still not out (45 after ordering on a not busy day and after multiple inquiries). At this stage we had had enough. We went to pay for our coffee and explained that we would not be eating our meals and how disappointed we were with our experience. While they did vaguely apologise, they did not seem to realise or acknowledge how bad the whole experience was. They came after us as we were leaving with a voucher for a coffee - which we declined as it was too little too late and we will definitely not...
Read moreI meet with a Mums and Bubs group every week and we try out different family-friendly cafes around the Shore. We specifically decided on Armadillo as it boasts a family-friendly atmosphere. It was a particularly special occasion too as one of our group is leaving overseas and we were saying good-bye to her. The experience was awful! There was one staff member in particular we felt was out to get us. She was incredibly rude through-out our entire visit and kept making demands on us which we kept complying with (like moving tables twice and moving pot plants that the kids were looking at) but it was never good enough. We have small children and try to be as accommodating as possible by cleaning up after ourselves and making sure they're behaving, but, with small children, that's not always possible. However, other family-friendly cafes are always so helpful and offer solutions (highly recommend Windsor Park Cafe). With Armadillo, it was obvious that the staff wanted us to leave despite our business. That's ok, they've got their wish, I will never go...
Read moreVery busy which is great, excellent coffee, but I didn't like no sugar as wasn't refilled, table was only wiped because we sat down, other tables we watched while food wasn't wiped away, coffee brought to the table wasn't served correctly you don't go in front of another person. And let's not get started on the toilets. A gap in the door of the cubicle is not lovely at all. And no toilet paper. Photo is of gap in my toilet if there had been people waiting they would have seen me sitting on the toilet. Been back again to find mold in the ladies bathroom and a dirty bathroom clearly not cleaned in awhile. Coffee great. And the front door never closed doesn't shut properly not great when your sitting next to it...
