Often when you want to customise basic breakfasts, cafes will try their best to add extra $ where they can, even when it’s a simple swap (of the same value) or omission. At Rombus, the staff member who took my order exercised her thinking skills and catered for me in a logical and fair way, to the point where I had to double check the total because I was so used to cafes just piling on the $. It’s details like this that makes you want to return, and while I normally live too far away, I will definitely be telling friends who have just moved to Howick to come here, and return myself when I’m in the area. Read moreExcellent cafe. A total reboot from the days gone by when the food used to be stale and the coffee weak and insipid. Now the coffee was superb, the spicy chai was great and the food was perfect! The boysenberry donut did not disappoint and the Ginger Gem was Crisp on the outside and feather light and fluffy inside. Another pleasing addition butter (real butter) in a small ramican too! Yes these new owners know what they are doing.
Fresh faces behind the counter and a whole new attitude brings this cafe back to life. The decor is fresh and crisp and the addition of a flower shop inside brings the occasional scent of fresh flowers across the table. Well done!

Read moreI had made plans with my Family to spend Lunch at Rombus Cafe yesterday (18/11/23). However when we arrived around 3:30pm, everything was closed and locked up. We were confused because Google and Facebook said they open until 9pm. So it seemed that they had randomly closed? Very disappointing that there was no communication on their Facebook or Instagram to at least let customers know that they were closed or closing earlier, instead of people wasting their time to make plans and meet there only to be let down.
