visited ronnie’s after a long time for that hit of nostalgia. (been coming here since i was a kid; a treat in the weekend). the vibe felt a little off unfortunately, it was early morning to be fair, but the workers seemed a bit down, no enthusiasm or smiles. however, the community is what makes ronnie’s the cafe it is. familiar faces and friendly people all around. so that made the atmosphere quite nice. the food is mediocre. feels like home cooking, but without the nostalgia and taste of home… i had the big breakfast, and with the price point of $29, i was hoping for a slice of decent bread, ciabatta or sourdough at least… however i got 2 toasted slices of white bread. a little sad as ‘bakers delight’ is literally 10 steps away. sausage was oddly bitter, tasted of freezer burn, slice of ungrilled tomato was sad, and the mushrooms and hashbrowns were relatively boring. all the seasoning and flavour came from the bacon. on the bright side, the poached eggs were prepared perfectly, just a lack of seasoning is all.
mum got the coffee, and she said the coffee was nice at least.
overall, i was a little disappointed, but it was nice to visit a childhood memory at least. i’d say a lot of the newer reviews here are quite accurate unfortunately, things just seem a little downhill at the moment. but hoping for all the best! (again a lot of my experience could have been because of the...
Read moreMy friend and I decided to treat ourselves to a lovely meal at Ronnie’s. We ordered two plates to share the chicken fettuccine pasta and the custard slice. When the chicken fettuccine arrived to our table it was a big portion very worth the money, until we tried it. We were shocked with the sourness taste it left in our mouths, we kept eating it, but it didn’t get better. We ended up having to leave over half a plate on the table. We wasted $17.90. We also got a custard slice when bought to our table it looked like it had been sitting in the cabinet for weeks. Was very dry on the outside and had a peculiar after taste, we wasted more money on our meal. When our drinks arrived we orginally order an oat milk piccolo, when it got to the table it didn’t come with the oat milk like we specifically asked for, it came with the regular milk. I am lactose intolerant this had a huge affect. Must add coffee was very bitter, as if they hadn’t cleaned the machine in a long time. There was one good thing that arrived to our table and that was the iced mocha it tasted wonderful and it came with oat milk like I asked. Overall very disappointing experience, we shall not be returning. We wasted $39.40 on this...
Read moreI ordered a turmeric latte, creamy chicken soup and a chicken sandwich for lunch. While the turmeric latte and chicken soup were okay, the chicken sandwich had a piece of light brown hair stuck at the bottom of the sandwich - I was quite shocked to find this. It was definitely not my own hair because I have black hair, not light brown hair. I only saw it after eating most of the sandwich. I immediately went up to the front counter to let one of the cafe workers know about this and to ask for a refund of the chicken sandwich. She referred me to the supervisor/manager. The supervisor/manager asked me (in a very rude and condescending tone) why I only raised this issue after I almost finished the sandwich. I told her the hair was stuck at the bottom of the sandwich so I only saw it later after I almost finished eating my sandwich. She told me to wait while she served 4 other customers. I waited for her for 15 minutes even though I was in the middle of eating my lunch. Then she reluctantly gave me a refund ($9.90) for the chicken sandwich with no apology given. Not only did she not apologise, she looked very unhappy and had a frown on her face. As a result, I will not...
