Smokey Wheelz BBQ Pitt House — Restaurant in Howick

Both good and bad... I was craving good BBQ brisket for my birthday dinner, and excited to find a place close to home with such good reviews. Got the brisket burger combo and a half rack of ribs. Staff were very friendly. Mis-heard my order at first, but apologised and quickly fixed once i repeated it. Comfortable couch to wait on, TV to watch while you wait if you desire, and a handful of tables if you want to dine in (i did take-out). Got everything home and couldn't wait to dig in. Brisket burger looked great, bun and everything else in the burger was perfect, but the brisket was as dry as anything. Flavour was good, but a real struggle to bite through and took forever to chew. I went not long after they opened for the day so possibly i got the first slices off the brisket which made them dry? but honestly anything that dry and tough should not be served to customer as-is. Mac 'n cheese was nice, though a little plain in flavour. Chips were good, nicely seasoned. Coleslaw was nice and seemed very fresh. Ribs were a similar story to the brisket, great flavour but quite dry and chewy. Got a little better after the first rib (and end rib, so again possibly the driest of the rack), but never got fully soft and tender like i was hoping for.

based on other reviews i was quite surprised by my experience with the food, so i will be going back to give them another chance. I love BBQ and want to be able to support and praise good local businesses, but i will be sure to go later in the day so i dont risk getting first...

I cannot recommend Smoky wheels bbq enough as your next stop for your next function, Robin Vai & their family owned/operated business are truly professional & take 'their catering' very seriously & that shows in their tasteful & mouth watering foods, the food is seriously delicious with side dishes that compliment every dish ... Ribs😋😋 absolutely amazing soft sticky & finger licking goodness, Brisket blink & it's gone, smoked chicken🥲🥲 beats KFC anyday, pork just melts in your mouth, mac n cheese lol (pacific Islanders new food menu😋😋) please people really consider putting this catering business on your speed dial, they cater for all (especially great food for Pacifica meat lovers) you won't be disappointed very grateful for making our sons 21st & grandgirls 1st birthday A GREAT SUCCESS (people remember food) did I mention how friendly they are & they will work with you to get the best menu package for your special DELICIOUS YUMMI TASTY...

Unreal portions for unreal price! Seriously wasn't expecting the 130 dollars meat pack for 4-6 people to actually fill all 5 of us boiz who eat heaps. Heaps of meat portions and variety of smoked ribs, pork belly and chicken with mean BBQ sauce and crunchy fries along with macaroni. My mate reckons one of the best fries he had. Coming back again but hope the 130 dollars meat pack is still around because I heard from the staff that it's a level 3 special. P.S, real minor thing but I pre-ordered on Wednesday and when I called to confirm again on Friday arvo they said they didn't receive the order which I panicked a little but luckily they were swift and got the order done for the time that was...
