Lone Star Manukau — Restaurant in Manurewa

My family and I arrived around 12.30pm on a Sunday for lunch. We had one of those GrabOne vouchers to use up. The place was almost empty. Half of our group was in the bar waiting for us before we headed to our table. We went to order some drinks, only to discover that they were out of so many items on their drinks menu. Strike One. I ended up ordering an L&P (I don't like L&P) because it seemed to be the only non-alcoholic drink available. My dad wanted a beer but their beer taps weren't working. Anyway, we ended up going through to our table. We were given menus, but were not read the specials, nor did our waitress introduce herself. She then came back with 6 sets of cutlery. There were 7 of us in the group. The cutlery was dumped in front of myself and my dad on a plate, and we had to distribute the cutlery ourselves.

When it came to ordering our meals, we made sure to pick out three choices. They seemed to be out of so many tings that we thought it was best to pick two back up choices in case they didn't have what we wanted. Luckily, they had everything on the menu.

Unfortunately, we ended up waiting just over 40 minutes for our food to arrive. We were STARVING.

So we ate our lunch, but I could not finish mine. I ordered Nachos with Chicken. The nacho chips were either extremely soggy or burnt, and at the bottom of the bowl was a whole lot of water and oil floating around. Also, there were supposed to be Jalapenos in the Nachos, but neither I nor my dad got any with our nachos. Instead, I had carrot in mine - that was definitely not on the menu!

My Aunty ordered the wrap, which was supposed to come with Chicken and Bacon. Well, there was chicken but NO BACON.

We weren't the only ones dissatisfied with our meal. Another customer went up to the counter to complain about the chicken she had ordered (we were sitting near the cash register counter). When we left, the chicken was still sitting on the bench. Not one staff member had the decency to clean it up.

The service was also terrible. The staff had no manners, for starters. And they weren't exactly dressed for work either, with one waitress wearing yellow booty shorts and sneakers, and another wearing a mini skirt.

When we went up to pay for our meal, there was no staff member their, nor could we see one anywhere else in the restaurant. We could have walked out without paying for our meal, and no one would have noticed. In hindsight, I wish we had walked out without paying. The prices were atrocious. Even with our GrabOne voucher, the total still came to over $100. For such a horrendous dining experience, it should have been about $80, and even that's a bit pricey.

We also met another dissatisfied customer at the counter while we were waiting to pay. She had been standing there for a while, and no one had even come to take their order. I felt like telling her to run as far away as she could, because the Lone Star Manukau was such a horrible place to eat.

Also, after seeing the staff leave the chicken sitting out uncovered for almost an hour, I felt sick to my stomach. I had just had chicken nachos. If I get food poisoning, I know who to blame.

We ended up going to Steeley Blue Cafe in Takanini for some decent food and drink afterwards.

I will never eat at Lone Star Manukau again.

We entered into your restaurant at 6.35pm and was seat after 2mins. The atmosphere at the time it was quite and we were the second or 3 third lot of customers in the restaurant side.

After about 8mins we were asked to see if we wanted to order. I stated asked the lady to come back we had not had enough time. Then we asked if we could order drinks? Which wasn't asked at all.

After we got our first lot of drinks, we then proceeded to order. Waiting about 20mins we got asked if we wanted the kid's meals with starter or mains. We said starters.

My daughter got her fish and chips kids meal, the fish was over cooked, the batter was dark. Waited for the rest of our order and my second oldest daughter's meal was last one and took a while to come out which I thought was not fair, being a child. We never received any small plates nor finger washing bowl for the chicken nibbles or the mussels, so we used the napkins on the table for a plate then after pretty much finishing the starters the waitress then brought over small plates but was far too late, we didn't use them. The mussels still had their beards in them and there was like a handful of raw onions on top of them for some random reason. This was very obvious the mussels were not cleaned properly. Highly disappointed!

We waiting another 15-20 mins for out mains. I ordered the Lamb dish and when receiving it, my lamb was way over cooked the outside was burnt and for $39 it was a very small portion amount, there was not much mash potato or vegetables. Our table condiments were not topped up, only 2 forks and lots of knifes, there was 7 of us and since we booked the table 4 days before hand, we would have thought that stuff like this would have been organized.

Very poor experience! Especially when we paid top dollar to eat out that's not KFC or Mc Donalds to get great customer service, great hospitality and excellent tasting food especially because we were celebrating my mother in-laws 50th birthday. We were meant to have cake and dessert but never made it to that stage as we just over it. The lack of training from staff, bad experience we got from the food and the Un organization skills the restaurant had was highly disappointing! Send a email and did not get a response back either.... Not Good At All...

On Sat we booked for lunch party of 5 kids & 6 adults it was my Mum's 82nd birthday. When we walked in the restaurant was filled with smoke & it wasn't very pleasant. The music was so loud we could hardly hear each other talking & the restaurant is most definitely not kids friendly. It took nearly 45mins before anyone approached us about drinks or took our orders. It did get busy admittedly but we had been in the restaurant from 1215. From the time our orders were taken we waited for well over an hour and a half for our meals, and our kids were starting to get really rattled, we were hungry. When I approached a waitress she so bluntly & rudely said I'm sorry we're getting smashed you'll have to wait bec we have to get out entrees first (these were from orders that came in after us) we could see from where we were seated. If that wasnt bad enough eventually when we got our orders, they missed 2 of our orders, when I approached a waitress she said so rudely you have all got your orders. I said excuse me there are 2 missing one being my mother's order. The waitress said oh I didn't know that , walked away. When I went to the kitchen & said something one of the chefs swore under their breath. A waitress said we'll get them out to you asap. By the time the 2 orders came out the rest of us had well & truly finished. I reallh felt sad for my Mum & sister. There were no apologies nothing for the delays. When we left to pay (& we paid alot of money) I said to the staff member serving us "at the very least we shouldn't have to pay for Mum bec it's her birthday". I was duly put in my place & told nah that's not going to happen. So so rude terrible experience, service & atmosphere fair to say our whanau won't be back again anytime soon nor will we be recommending your restaurant.
