Wero Whitewater Park — Attraction in Manurewa

Very professional place from the get go. Great guides who are highly skilled, kind and funny. All staff are friendly. The intro video was helpful. Cavernous changing rooms! Getting a full wetsuit on for the first time on this 50 yo curvy bod was a challenge!! Thoroughly enjoyed the rafting, it was out of my comfort zone and really good for my confidence. I was glad I had done rowing and waveskiing previously; however this paddling is more like wakaama. It was super fun careering into the rapid and back pedalling, then really nose diving into the water at the front of the raft!! It was pouring with rain and it didn’t matter. Doing a manu in order to swim the rapid on my back then my front was also quite scary - but an amazing feeling to achieve:) If I can do it, you can too!! My brother and I are keen to try the larger rapid sometime soon. The party of 12 yo boys on the other raft had a whale of a time. And I think our Gold medalist Finn was the guide for them? I was quite exhausted when it came to do the canoeing, and after 20 mins I collapsed and flopped out of the vessel like a sea lion…my ‘flippers’ were completely stuffed and I had to have an afternoon kip. It would be an awesome team building exercise for work. Thanks Vero team for a fun, active and challenging...

What an awesome experience, much more physical than I originally anticipated - I’d never been white water rafting and I just had no idea how strenuous the rowing would be, I definitely wasn’t as fit as I thought I was, lol! Really great fun, our guide was amazing, there was one downside, a young guy (another guide) who was a bit more egotistical and at the end when you jump into the rapids my young daughter and I just didn’t have the strength to swim back into the side, he just stood there laughing, I was getting stressed because my daughter is 7 and while we did have life jackets, I couldn’t pull us both back in - we were told a rope would be thrown out if we had any struggles, but I was shouting at him to throw the rope and he just grinned and did a swimming motion, luckily our guide came running up and threw the rope out to us and apologised - apart from that minor event though the whole experience was great and I would thoroughly recommend to anyone, I just wish I could remember our guides name but thank you for a wonderful time, my daughter has been begging to come back!!
