I have been a regular customer of this place for many months. Their Bahn Mi was my favourite.... until today. My husband spent $40+ on lunch including 2 x Bahn Mi. I was a good half way through mine when I bit something solid. At the time I assumed it was a bone. I spat out all the food in my mouth to find that it was what looked like a broken off plastic fork tine. It was absolutely big enough to choke on. I threw away the rest of my Banh Mi because it had really put me off.
I returned to the store straight away, showed them the plastic tine and told them it was in my Banh Mi. Both ladies said no, not possible. One of them said we don't use any containers etc that look like that and I make the Banh Mi individually. She proceeded to grab a tong full of carrots to show me how she makes it, at which time I said perhaps it was in the carrots, she said no it can't be. I tried to explain again that I bit their Banh Mi and this plastic was inside it. She said no it didn't come from us, pretty much accusing me of putting it there. After repeating myself a few times and them essentially accusing me of lying, she said OK I give you a refund but that's not from us. I said never mind forget about it I won't be coming back.
Given that I used to love this place and have been there many times - they even know my order - it makes no sense to accuse me of doing something to their food. What would I have to gain by that? Anyway, I won't be back given that's how they...
Read moreI often write reviews on places I eat at as I use them as a guide to where I eat also. With that said I have no hesitation in recommending this place. Often food places have to much on the menu making it hard to decide, and often that can be the undoing of awesome food, but this place has a small menu, its limited but oh my gosh they do it well, very well! I guess its the keep it simple but make it awesome approach they have will see them continue to succeed. The Pork Belly banh mi has to be the best I've eaten and I've been to Vietnam, also the the house sauce for the dumplings is out of this world. The staff are very friendly and will always stop for a quick chat. There is no doubt that this food is cooked with love, you can taste it. I will be back again and again....
Read moreOh wow! The chili oil is homemade by ethnic cambodians and goes on perfectly on a Bahn Mi ! This is the hottest "chao zhou la jiao" that i have ever had. Puts every chili oil in SG to shame!
Stopped by here while picking up some supplements from the nearby pharmacy and was very pleasantly suprised. The bahn mi baguette was home-made and toasted perfectly.
If you like your chili heat, ask for a tablespoon over your bahn mi, instead of the standard teaspoon. Its cold and rainy now but the chili gave me such warmth that i dont feel the damp anymore :D
I'm buying some chili oil for use!
Limpeh says : "wah,...
