Kung Fu BBQ & Hotpot Buffet — Restaurant in Maungakiekie-Tāmaki

We were here just last night for our Dad's 70th birthday dinner. We arrived earlier than booked but the staff allowed our parents & children to be seated while some of us waited for majority of the family to arrive. We paid upfront as requested which was fine, only we invited people but not sure if they will all show up. Which 2 never did but we received no refund for. Thats our fault though for not asking we got so busy chatting away we forgot aboit the two that never came. Besides that, a cool thing was they allowed a mixed payment transaction (super convenient for 4siblings splitting costs!).

Our family adults were seated at a semi-private area (which was so thoughtful) at no extra cost with an extra room provided nearby for all the grandkids aged from 5 to 20years old, again no extra cost. Kind of gave us VIP vibes haha. It was so nice. Great place for celebratory dinners or lunch. Only thing was the background music was a bit too loud, we were all talking so loud as we struggled to hear. The music was great just volume. Anyways, the kids loved the space they were in, giving them time to catch up with each other as cousins. The seats were so comfortable. The tables are sturdy and you don't need to worry about changing gas bottles/or gas stoves with the kids. They're automatically built in. So the sturdy tables make sense. It was top notch!! Safe for kids (supervised ofc).

The food was just exceptional! So delicious!! If you're like our family & love seafood. Go here! It was 7.30pm, on a Tuesday night & the variety we had, was so much better than some of the weekend buffets we have been to locally in Manukau. They had seafood boil part of the buffet, we got so excited for that -it was super popular too but the staff continued to top up throughout our time there. For the BBQ & Hotpot, they had a variety of seafood meats to choose from, a variety of meats, bugolgi pork or chicken was so darn tasty. YUM! A huge selection on the buffet of hot cooked dishes from fried chicken, dumplings, fried rice to tender cooked pork. You just couldn't decide what to eat first. A great problem to have LOL. The veges selection was fresh & neatly displayed in clear glass, making it easier to see & choose.

I am so glad we went there, I even I woke up thinking about the glorious food LOL. We also didn't pay for drinks, they provided jugs of water and bottomless soda. Their ice was topped up into a cooler box, wishing they had an ice machine but it's included in the price so we weren't complaining there. The kids said dessert was so yummy. I personally didn't have any. Too stuffed for dessert but our kids know their food so I'll take their word for it. Lol. We were so busy catching up we had no time to try the free Karaoke. Next time we will try.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Can I just say the Customer Service here is terrific! They are the most welcoming and polite staff. They don't bother you unless it's to clear your dirty dishes which they do so well. They friendly & helpful and even went the extra mile to not only store our birthday cake in their fridge but bring it out as a staff team & help us sing the birthday song, for Dad. We are deeply grateful for this team, thank you so much for making it a memorable night for our family🙏🏽🥰

It did become a little warm but next time I'll just take a small fan. My daughter said their room had aircon, so probably depends where you sit. Overall, a superb family friendly restaurant, great value for money & wonderful experience. Can't wait for the next...

I am absolutely appalled at how myself (whom is 8 months pregnant) and my sister in law were hosted tonight. I made a booking 1 week in advance for 6:30pm. We arrived on time, despite having to hunt for a car park for 10 minutes. Once we were shown to our booth we proceeded to join the enormous queue and start collecting our food. There was a wait on clean plates and a wait on most of the hot dishes, dumplings, fresh veggies, meat and rice. Between me and my sister in law, we understood they were busy and just ate what we could while they restocked. Getting back to our table took a little over 15 minutes. Once we were seated and eating we noticed the female and male workers making gestures to eachother obviously In regards to our table. While we were eating and had meat cooking and untouched plates a male worker approached our table @7:38pm and said our seating time has finished and if it’s ok we leave now. I said to him excuse me? And this man put his hands together 🙏🏽 almost like he was begging us to hurry up leave because the next booked in family had arrived. In complete disbelief, we looked at eachother and thought “wow, time went so fast”. I looked at my phone and noticed we had only been there just over an hour. Before I even had time to approach the service desk another lady came along and started clearing our table of untouched and just cooked food!

I approached a lady at the service desk and asked her how long a sitting is. She said an hour and a half, I asked her why are we been asked to leave when we haven’t had our full sitting yet.. to which she replied “sorry we are busy and have families walking in”. At this point I am furious, not only were we been cut short of our time and ask to leave for a family who did not have a booking, but this place made their busy period and understaffed and under-catered problem ours! Not to mention our surrounding booths were seated and eating before we had arrived!!! After going back and fourth about how it is not our fault that they are busy, we were told we can sit back down and eat till 8pm. But what was the point? The lines were long, food not refilled our table was cleared already. We decided to leave.

I am so disappointed! I feel we were picked on because they feel they could make more money off a booking in a 6 seater booth then just having me and my sister there. I had herd of previous bad reviews online annd on TikTok about this place but I gave them the benefit of the doubt. Boy was I wrong! This place has potential, but they are busy trying to cater to the whole world instead of who they already have booked and paid.

It should be 3-6years $18. 7-11years $25 12+years 39.99

NOT 3-7years $18 7-12years $25 12+ $39.99

because that means ages 7 and 12 have two different prices for the same ages. 7years ($18 and $25) 12ears ($25 and $39.99)

My kids are both 7 years old and should be charged only the 3-7age price $18 ... because the first time I went, I was charged 14 bux less because my kids were charged the correct 3-7age price. But then the second time I went, I was charged 14 bux MORE from a different lady because she said even though they are 7, they already turned 7 and are now older than 7 years and have to pay the 7-12 age???? I was like Huuuuuuh??? Im lost... its so confusing and I was pretty upset after that because i felt like i overpaid .

It's not a big problem if the pricing sign is corrected, I don't mind paying the proper amount, but please fix the sign . There shouldn't be 2 different amounts for the same ages (7 and 12 year olds) Correction should be 0-6years $18 7-11years $25 and then 12+ 39.99

so that customers with kids are not confused about the pricing.

Other than that I love the food and atmosphere, good place to go !!
