King's Restaurant — Restaurant in Maungakiekie-Tāmaki

Nice little restaurant located in the busy Royal Oak shopping complex. It has been here for years, came here long time ago and thought I should give it another try.

Should be husband and wife running this place, their restaurant's name in Chinese is actually "Emperor's soup" so I ordered the soup to try out.

It is really good taste of the soup, no doubt about it. However, the beef stew rice I ordered was way too salty!! I haven't tried the other dishes but you should really avoid this.

Price wise it's the usual drill, not too expensive.

We tried this place for the first time a few nights ago. We were greeted and asked how many people in our party, we said 3. Only then to be asked just to look at the menu and decide if we wanted to eat here. The lady (with the glasses) who greeted us was also pushy, not giving us a seat to any table and kept saying in a rude manner to just look at the menu, which I thought was abit rude and my partner thought so too. But other than that minor let down I thought the food was yum. I tried the braised pork on rice and steamed veges. So 4...

Friend ordered a $135.2 stew soup and the pictures shown are all they got…. Ridiculous. Definitely overpriced, and very little ingredients in the soup. Just some chicken meat, mushrooms and chicken feet?? Tasted very fishy also. Friend argued for a refund but the restaurant only offered $10 gift voucher… but “luckily”, friend got 30 bucks back at the end LOL. See it...
