I have to say, for all the food I eat, Malaysian🇲🇾cuisine isn’t the one I have regularly. Always thought it is a bit Chinese, more like Indian with a pinch of Indonesian - apparently, it IS heavily influenced by all three cuisines💡- now I understand🤓...
I was first introduced to PappaRich years ago when I used to live in Sydney🇦🇺, there was a very popular one in Paramatta – my absolute fave at the time was Pappa Wat Ta Hor👏. The vaguely British colonial look of the interior is distinctive, and you must fill out your own order on a chit before pressing a button at your table.
I got quite excited when I noticed PappaRich inside Imax. Tried their Vegetable Curry Laksa months ago and I remember telling myself confidently then that was the best Laksa ever – the coconut curry soup was super hot, full bodied and luxurious & the tofu skin, tomato and eggplants were tasty as hell❣️Also had their traditional Hainan Steam Bread with Butter and Kaya – first tried steamed bread when I travelled to Singapore years ago at Toast Box – the texture was pillowy - soft✨and Kaya had a unique taste✨...
Recently, tried their Curry Fish Fillet Noodles Soup at Sylvia Park. I am all for generous portions and there were many huge chunky pieces of fish fillet on top – justifying the price of the dish. Finally, I got my fix of fish for the month👊🏼. Also ordered the freshly-made Roti Canai on the side - bristling, flaky and chewy at once - simply perfect❗️
Thank you Pappa Rich for sharing sumptuous Malaysian...
Read moreFirst, after we ordered our food, my husband asked the waitress if he can change his seafood laksa noodle to rice noodle, the waitress told us firmly, we can’t. However, when I check the menu again, it say we can change the noodle type if we want. The aircon was extremely cold, we had our 2 years old with us, so we asked the waiter if we can move to another table, he asked if we’ve ordered already, if so, we can’t, because he won’t be able to find us with the food we’ve ordered?! As far as we’ve seen, him and the other waitress two of them are the waiting staff around our area, wonder how hard is that to recognise a family with a baby among around 15 tables max?! Their team leader stepped in and told us we can change if we prefer. We’ve ordered watermelon juice, and it’s way too much added sugar. The seafood laksa with eggplant, that’s the first time we’ve ever had seafood laksa with eggplant! The food are funny and the waiting staff are even funnier, they just randomly tell customer wrong information without thinking and potending they knew it in a very rude way. My husband felt sick after got home, don’t know if that’s the freezing aircon or the food! One of the worst dinning experience ever, in fact I don’t remember when is the last time we had equally bad experience like this. Will never ever go back their anymore. By the way, the one star I gave should be...

Firstly - we love PappaRich. We dine in the CBD regularly.
In this instance after a 1 hour wait for a table (which we expected) we sat and ordered. The drinks and roti started well, though took a long time to arrive.
Then the first main arrived, with a 45 minute wait for the children's nuggets and fries, and the other main. That's 45 mutes from the first main arriving.
When the next round of dishes arrived, the food was cold and bland, with the dominant flavour being burnt. The staff were rude and refused to give and update on the meals. When we asked for a side of sauce, we were then charged $1.50 for a tablespoon of sambal.
Overall the total opposite of queen street location. I would suggest the extra 20 minutes driving to be hosted by friendly staff and eat amazing food is worth the extra effort.
When we complained, I was told that they have enough people eating here already and what does it matter if I am not happy. Well sadly they are right ... this won't change them at Sylva Park; but for me and my family ... we won't be back to...
