I have to say, for all the food I eat, Malaysian🇲🇾cuisine isn’t the one I have regularly. Always thought it is a bit Chinese, more like Indian with a pinch of Indonesian - apparently, it IS heavily influenced by all three cuisines💡- now I understand🤓... I was first introduced to PappaRich years ago when I used to live in Sydney🇦🇺, there was a very popular one in Paramatta – my absolute fave at the time was Pappa Wat Ta Hor👏. The vaguely British colonial look of the interior is distinctive, and you must fill out your own order on a chit before pressing a button at your table. I got quite excited when I noticed PappaRich inside Imax. Tried their Vegetable Curry Laksa months ago and I remember telling myself confidently then that was the best Laksa ever – the coconut curry soup was super hot, full bodied and luxurious & the tofu skin, tomato and eggplants were tasty as hell❣️Also had their traditional Hainan Steam Bread with Butter and Kaya – first tried steamed bread when I travelled to Singapore years ago at Toast Box – the texture was pillowy - soft✨and Kaya had a unique taste✨... Recently, tried their Curry Fish Fillet Noodles Soup at Sylvia Park. I am all for generous portions and there were many huge chunky pieces of fish fillet on top – justifying the price of the dish. Finally, I got my fix of fish for the month👊🏼. Also ordered the freshly-made Roti Canai on the side - bristling, flaky and chewy at once - simply perfect❗️ Thank you Pappa Rich for sharing sumptuous Malaysian food with us😋❣️

It was great, went with a group of work colleagues and we ordered and got the food and it was great. The only critiques i have is just that, we had to signal to the waiter or waitress a couple of times to get them to come and help us, as we were all still arriving and some people had ordered when they got there, it kind of made it feel like we were bugging them so we can order our food, and the last thing was that they didn't offer split payment, there were 6 of us and the bill came to around $190.00 and we had already calculated at the table how much we needed to pay to then discover that we weren't able to do so, instead a friend paid for it and we did a bank transfer which was easy enough but still would've been nice to have the option of split payment because of our large group, maybe something to consider for the future as large groups often do split payment

Came here for lunch, service was very average as one of our meals was forgotten, no one checked our food, no knifes on table, and no water provided, food was just dumped and walked away. $8.50 for 5 small prawns dipped in masala coating then microwaved, sent them back but they just nuked them in the microwave more. French toast and fried chicken was ok - the only non-Malaysian food. Chicken and steamed buns were average, some of the chicken seemed fresh and juicy other pieces where old and dry. In, out, pay your bill and goodbye without a smile or friendliness... a shame as I was looking forward to trying this place and it always seems busy. Prices where ok $60 for two people with one drink. Nice fitout but let down by service and consistency of food. Menu is huge and could be done a lot better with a simpler authentic Malaysian menu as it’s almost like a upper class Denny’s

Upon arrival at the door, we were ushered to a table fairly quickly. The place was clean and we came just before the lunch rush started. Our order came pretty quick and the food was good and tasty. The sambal was a nice spice level and the peanuts and fried anchovies was crunchy and also warmed up which I enjoyed because it added a another layer of texture and flavour. The curry chicken was mixed with some potato slices which was a nice touch. Although felt abit surprised and disappointed to see food being served on what looked like prison style metal plates you would see on tv. The Botany branch serves their meals on white or ceramic plates & bowls. Also the wait staff seemed well over it and unhappy even though they had not long opened. They were not friendly or welcoming and for those reasons I give a mid rating.

First time I had PappaRich was in Wellington. I loved it. I was blown away by the service and the authenticity of the food. Auckland is no exception and I love the location, next to the movie theatre. Eat, drink and movie. Perfect night all metres from each other. Situated upstairs away from the main drag makes it a nice quite location from the riff-raff! It’s surrounded by nice big windows making it bright and cheerful. Just like most of the staff. Service is quick even at peak times. Food is delicious and most dishes generous in portion. There were some, ones served with roti, that left me feeling ripped-off and a little hungry. Maybe they should charge less for it, like my portion... less! Overall I would go back and try them all... maybe not the small portion dishes.

Sweet as spot if you’re after a proper feed of Malaysian kai! PappaRich at Sylvia Park is the go-to now since the city one shut down. Mean selection on the menu – we’re talkin’ over 160 options, from classic nasi lemak to creamy laksa that’ll warm your puku right up. The roti’s crispy as, and you can even see the chefs whipping it up through the open kitchen – bit of a show while you wait. Service is choice too – friendly crew and that buzzer thing on the table makes ordering a breeze. Portions are decent, aye – you won’t walk out hungry. Prices are fair, especially for a mall joint. If you’re after a quick bite or a chill feed with the mates, this place hits the spot. Chur PappaRich – you’re doing it right!
