Saw their ads plastered everywhere for their “first of the month” deal which is any standard ramen for $12. Made my way over later that evening on March 1st to make an order. Get there and they require hand sanitising before entering which is a bit unusual, but fine. Then when I ask about the special, the first waitress doesn’t know what I’m talking about. She has to get other wait staff to figure out what I’m talking about, the guy she brings over was very rude and dismissive in telling me that the deal applies for dine in only. I said “where does it say that?” He says it’s right there on the ad. So I go outside and check, and in the tiniest fine print in the bottom right corner it says dine in only. Incredibly lame, I’d made the trip out for this deal and felt like I’d been falsely advertised to. During a time when we are having 20,000 new covid cases every day, it seems outright unethical to force customers to dine in if they want to access the deal which was advertised everywhere as any standard ramen on any first day of the month. Definitely won’t be going there and recommend nobody does, the wait staff were really quite rude and the company wasted my time with the false/unethical advertising. On a normal day their selections are between $22-25 and I’m DEFINITELY not paying that much for ramen noodles. Terrible...
Read moreThe noodle portions are on the smaller side. Also the noodles themselves aren't really special tasting at all. The broths are very good, served boiling hot and not overly salty however the rest of the bowl i.e. the shavings of meat - very disappointing for a $17-22 price point. I still prefer Ramen Takara. You can get a much bigger bowl of ramen from around $16.50 that has a much broader range of ramen flavors and toppings as well. If you are someone who likes ramen noodles and/or can eat lots of it you'd probably have to order two or 3 portions of a bowl just for yourself. We also ordered the unagi don ($19) and it was disappointing as well. The unagi was not roasted it tasted like it was just barely heated and far too soft, the sauce on top wasn't seasoned just some bland teriyaki. the rice portion was so small also and since it is a don u are supposed to have more rice over ingredients. The service was timely for us but I could tell they were just managing, I think they might do well to have a separate pay at table option as it saves their staff running around. Overall fine for a first try/first time but overall, 3 bowls of ramen + don =...
Read moreThe first time I had Ippudo was in New Market, it was a WOW experience that there was not a single drop of broth left by the time I was done.
I've dined at Ippudo many times since but had the most disappointing experience at Ippudo Sylvia Park today.
The ramen broth was far from the "wow" standard, it can't even be considered as a decent broth. The gyoza which were usually our favorite was another big disappointment. Basically nothing we ordered was satisfactory.
The place was relatively empty with only 3-4 tables occupied, but we were given only 1 menu to share. They did bring another 1 when we asked for it, but in my opinion if the place is empty and there's an abundant of menu available then each person should get one.
The service crew also did not bring the condiments. Basically, we have to ask for things that are considered standard items.
I would rate it a zero star if it is even possible.
Ippudo, please do quality checks on your outlet's food and service quality from time to time. I recon the mystery shopper/diner method...
