A bit disappointed as this place had a review of 4.1 stars, but I felt it should be more a 3 star rating. To keep things short, here was my positives/negatives with the cafe:
Positives: Location is beautiful and has great scenery/green nature, etc. Overall the food tasted above average, and coffee/tumeric latte was good.
Negatives: Not value for money. I ordered the Salmon wrap (the description on the menu made it sound pretty good). It ended up being half a panini wrap where some of the wrapping paper of the wrap got stuck to my panini so had to manually rip that off. The taste was above average and all this cost $14! My wife ordered the pork belly benedict with the normal serving size. When it arrived, the presentation and the portion size was underwhelming (this costs ~$24!). The bread the pouched egg was on tasted very "airy" and felt like you didn't eat anything. The pork belly however tasted pretty good and was well seasoned and cooked. The venue was very loud. Because the entire place is wrapped around glass walls, and there were a lot of seats/tables circling around the entire place, the sound of people's conversations would bounce back and be trapped inside. It made the entire place very loud and quite uncomfortable. If you wanted a quiet place to relax, catch up with a friend, I wouldn't recommend this location. You would be better off getting a coffee and a snack from this location and sit outside on the grass.
Overall, this place has a lot of potential, but I think because of it's prime location (with nothing else nearby) they kinda left it as-is knowing that you would have to go there for food/coffee if your visiting Cornwall Park. They have more than enough guests so I doubt they would fix these issues and can charge whatever price they see fit.
I personally would not go back again. There are better cafes within driving distance to get more value for money, and offers a more relaxing experience. However, if I do visit Cornwall Park for a jog or a run, I may swing by and grab a...
Read moreWe visited this Cafe today with a friend and my toddler. We go to this cafe every now and then as it is far for us. We didn't get offered a high chair which was fine and I went to get one myself. There two white plastic high chairs and a wooden one. I went for the wooden one as it looked slightly cleaner than the others. Before I sat my toddler, I started wiping it with baby wipes and the wipes were black and discusting. After using about six wipes, I kindly said to the waiter if I can please have the spay and a cloth as the table was not very clean and I showed her the state of the wipes. She didn't take the dirty wipes and brought me a very dirty wet cloth for me to wipe the table. I asked her if we could please have a clean cloth and the spay. She came back with a clean wet cloth and handed it to me, which I didn't have a problem cleaning the table. I covered the table with tissues and I put my toddlers food in the containers which I'd brought with me. The cloth and the dirty wipes became decorations of our table as the waiter never took them from our table. It's a nice cafe which is used lots by Mama's and their babies or toddlers. I didn't take pictures, but that's absolutely disgusting and unhygienic. I don't think that high chair has even been spay and wiped. We felt discusted when we used the salt and peper too as the wooden grinders were dirtier than the table. I don't think the waiter had any idea at all about hygiene. She was lovely, just not living in the moment. I think Health and Safety review needs to be done as all the other high chairs were in the same state. The food was lovely, but how clean is the kitchen? It was a busy day and a simple vegetarian toast and fries took over 40...
Read moreWarm can of beer accompanied with a glass full of ice and being told that’s how some people like it? Sir and I have visited some odd places around the world, but this is a new one even for us 😱. When we were told that the glass of ice was for the beer and we acted surprised, we in returned got a surprise that we dared to ask the question. Sir returned his can of beer as it wasn’t opened and opted for a green smoothie. It came out warm and super sweet. Again we were told that’s how some people like it. Who are these ‘some people’?. . We came in for a cold relaxing drink on a warm sunny day and the experience was everything but that. It was almost closing time and it felt like the staff had already gone while physically still there. We needed to visits the bathrooms while there and they are smeeeely and yuck! The staff are unfriendly and rude and obviously not interested in being there Just because you are the only cafe in a prime location it doesn’t mean you should get away with this behaviour. Not sure why this place has good reviews, but this was definitely one of the worst experiences. Even if we were there for a short time. They refunded us for the beer and smoothie conundrum, but that needed a 10 minute wait and it looked like the staff needed to have a meeting to make...
