First time visiting. Got there right on open. My lunch was freshly made to order. Took only 15 minutes approximately. I had 2 items that were the best sellers. I had Pork Belly with crackling Banh Mi Sandwhich and the Rainbow Fresh Spring Rolls. The spring rolls were fresh and light, perfect summer lunch. Came with a yummy dipping dressing. The pork bun was also tasty- the sauce was sweet but it didn't make me feel ill by the end which was a win! The only gripe probably is being really picky, the pork crackling had parts which were really hard to eat (too hard or chewy) but to be honest that would be hard to maintain perfection. I was a bit guttered to find my classic one I use to have in Australia wasn't on the menu but determined to find something very close. Will definitely be back as there are lots of yummy looking food on the menu. I also had good service. The lady helped me pick when I was unsure recommending both dishes....

Here's my detailed review of my experience with Banh Mi Craft Vietnamese Restaurant, this is only applied for my takeaway order Stir-Fry Egg Noodles:

The taste of the food is nice and beef is soft and tender plus the vegetables are cooked well. The cashier was kind and listened to all my questions and answered them. I asked specifically if noodles are spicy and she confirmed its not,of which I preferred. The restaurant atmostphere is good but could be done better in terms of the presentation on the cashier side but tables are good presentation and well cleaned and relaxing vibe. The only thing that I would give this review an improvement is the amount of food they served, its a little small amount for $20. It could add more noodles, typical asian noodles serve a bit more in $20.

Please try the other foods in the menu, they all...

This place would seriously be a chance for the best banh mi in New Zealand. It’s the best I’ve ever had for sure. I ordered the pork with crackling and it did not disappoint. Meat was juicy, crackling very crispy. Plenty of it, the sandwich was heavy and wrapped very well. Attention to detail is big here. The staff are very professional while also being warm and lovely. They were so nice to deal with. The sauce was incredible and beat of all, the bread was fresh and crispy. I often see a good banh mi being let down by sub par bread but not this time. 10 out of 10, very impressed!! Also worth mentioning that it was 4:30 on a Tuesday arvo, I ate the sandwich out the front of the shop and saw them serve at least 15 people at this odd hour. Cleary not a hidden secret but well known for their...

Visted this restaurant with two other people, and we all had a poor experience. We spectulated wheter the chicken soup had rotten prawn in it, based on the smell, there was also a very hard brown piece. We aren't sure what the brown piece was, and joked about what it could be. The noodle dish had an extreme amount of coriander. I assume they will justify this with "that's the vietnamese style". I won't argue with that statement, but I will not order it again. I have had other amazing vietnamese food (as you can see from my other 350+ reviews) that make this food look extremely poor in comparison, and with a balance of flavours, not just coriander taste. The pork was okay, althought slightly overcooked. I wouldn't get it again, and would prefer to visit the other restaurants in Whanganui.

A terrible experience. I ordered the 'Deluxe Chicken Hot Plate' which is described as marinated chicken with fresh salad and rice. I received CHICKEN NUGGETS fried with pineapple, celery and carrot. No marinated chicken, no salad. All for $26. This was after a long day of driving and a tangihanga (funeral). All we wanted was a simple meal after a long day. Due to the circumstances, we didn't have the energy to drive all the way back and complain. Really disappointing and a rip off.

Nice place to sit in and nice staff. Food is not traditional and a bad balance of flavour. Ordered a Pork Belly Banh Mi. Came out on a 12" baguette that was fresh, crunchy and looked great but it was full of mayo and sweet chilli, which drowned the flavour of the pork. Had one pit of parsley instead of coriander. Might suit others, but in the end for me a mayo soaked French roll doesn't cut it if you want a traditional Banh Mi.
