We went to visit this stunningly beautiful old building in the heart of Wanganui, to see a performance of Swan Lake by the touring company of the Imperial Russian ballet. The setting was lovely, the soloists , Lina Seveliova, and Nariman Bekzhanov, were amazing, but every one of them was fantastic. A fabulous night out. Even my six year old granddaughter sat enthralled through the entire show. Just a hint for people attending shows at the Opera House. Take some cash if you want to use the upstairs bar. They don't have EFTPOS. It is a very old, iconic and beautiful theatre, worth a visit even if you don't have a show to see. You can get a small cash out at the box office... they do have EFTPOS. People were made to stand around waiting for the seating area to be opened with no explanation or apology whatsoever. No chairs were made available to those with disabilities. When the show did get underway, a support singer was the opening act for around 25 mins. Then a break in the show was announced which took up a further 20 minutes. Ridiculous!!
